I enjoy both of them, they are different take of the same character taken over a 20 years difference. I never felt I need to show only love to Burton since that was the "original" movie.
And by the way, the best Batman ever is not Bale or Keaton, it's Adam West and I have his signature and a pic taken with him to prove it ![]() |

I am a huge fan of both films. Love 'em.
![]() I liked Burton's atmosphere more than Nolan's. That doesn't mean I would like that type of Gothic atmosphere in BB or TDK, because it would be horrendous. It would be out of sync. I thought the characters in Nolan's picture were developed better. In terms of style, both were great. Both versions were lucky to receive GREAT composers; Zimmer and Elfman. P.S. Burton's style was more faithful to the comics, than was Nolan's style. However, in terms of plot, Nolan's version was more faithful. |

But should the suit be adopted as the uniform (thanks to Burton)? I think he did a good job with the vision so did Nolan as well. Thanks for contributing. ![]() Last edited by Lord_Stewie; 04-25-2010 at 05:25 AM. |

Well. The first post said we weren't allowed to really say which was better.
But if you need my opinion so bad, I'll just toss the link that almost says everything that needs to be said. http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/vid...184-batmanvsdk |

Funny Vegeta. Both versions of Wayne differ way too much. I think Burton went with the cold/bold Bruce Wayne, Nolan went with the Flamboyant, party boy, and serious Wayne.
Almost makes you wonder who the real Bruce Wayne is, and if you figure that out then you would understand Batman as well. |

I must say that after watching that I think I agree with the Keaton AS Batman thing. Though much of it has to do witht the better suit. But there is something more "Batman" about him. Of course I agree with the whole "who is the better Joker". But I disagreed with everthing else. The plot holes in the original Batman are all over the place and overall the plot is just silly. Alfred better in Batman??? c'mon. The leading ladies? It's a draw. Dark Knights Gordon by a long shot of course and dark knight had Harvey Dent/Two Face. And who gives a Flip about Bob?? But I thought the points were interesting. As I said before in my "epic" post. I still enjoy Batman but overall I have never felt it was a very good movie. I mostly blame Burton. As I do with most his films. |

Heavily disagree, there was a point of time where almost everyone had an issue with Ledger playing the joker out of the fear that he wouldn't do a good job such as Nicholson.

As for Batman of Bob Kane, there was a period of 10 years (almost to the 50's) where Batman was rather dark. It change because of the controversies with comics in the 50's and they became a bit more light. Batman in the 70's specialy in Detective Comic was rather a darker character then in other format. In the serials of the 40's he was made a bit more light and in the TV series of the 60's he was just plain cheese ![]() |

I remember when I first saw Burton's Batman back when it was first relesed. I was so pumped. Not only was I a pretty big fan of the Bat but I was a HUGE Jack Nicholson fan. I remember When Time Magazine or Newsweek (can't remember) put out the first photos of Keaton as Batman and Jack as the Joker, my head almost blew up. Then the trailer came. Ithink the first TV trailer was during the Oscars of that year. OMG!!!!! I could not wait.
Then the film came out. Well needless to say the hype I had for this film was not going to give it a fare shot. there was no way it could live up to expectations. And thus I was greatly dissapointed. I liked the look of the film but like all Tim Burton films, I liked the look of the films but find his direction Lacking greatly. Not enough Bruce Wayne/BAtman and way too much of goofy Joker. I love when the Joker first shows up and kills his boss and gives the whole "Wait till they get a load of me" line. Scary crazy and funny all roled into one. After that he is just more comic relief then anything else. And I HATE that Burton turns the Joker into a music video for not one but two Prince songs. I also hate that Batman gets his butt kicked by just some average goon. But anyways without dumping on BATMAN too much. I still enjoy the look of the film and find it easy to watch. I feel that Batman Returns is a much better film. However it's tuff to swollow those rocket launching Panguins. But Burton seemed to have a much better handle on the Batman character. Not a perfect film but a good one. I also feel that this is Danny Elfman's best score. BATMAN FOREVER - I LOVED this film when it first came out. I thought they did the best job with the Wayne/Batman. I loved that atman could fight in this one and not just depend on his "toys" HOWEVER this film really went down with repeat viewings. I still think Batman is handled well and so is Robin but pretty much everything stinks to high heaven. BATMAN and ROBIN - The Less said about this film the better. Batman Begins - I was actually let down by this film when I first saw it. I loved the first half. But then he put on the suit and for some reason it lost me. At the time I think that I felt that the film went from feeling real to feeling like I was watching Tim Burton's BATMAN again. The Black suit, the chase through town with the cops. The Poison gas that was going to kill Gotham. I just felt let down. Then I watched it again on DVD and fell in LOVE. Yes it's not perfect but I felt that Nolan really captured the whole "What would happen if a very rich man decided to fight Crime?" Well it would look something like Nolan's vision. It still goes a tad over the top with the whole Water/gas/evaporation plot but still an excellent film that too m really captured the spirit of what Batman the character and the comic is. The Dark Knight - Just about perfect. An I fo one am glad that they too the Joker about as far from the Nicholson version as they could. There has been so much praise heaped on this film that I am not going to just add more but I will say that it is so far the only "perfect" comic book hero film to be made with the original Superman being # 2. Sorry that I went on so long. That was not my intent but I am getting back into watching all these films again. So they have been on my mind. I believe that the feel/story/characters of the Nolan Batman films are much darker then the Burton films. I mena by the time we leave Bats in the second film he is the Bad guy in the eyes of Gotham. People we care about die. There is no happy ending for Bruce Wayne. Much like the many of the stories in the comics. Batman may win in the end but many bad things happen along the way. Burton's films Look dark and have thier dark moments but other then that they feel a bit cartoony to me. Much of that is intentional and that is fine. It's what Burton does with almost all his films. But I feel that he missed the spirit of what made the Batman character what he is in the comics. However they are still fun films to watch and are much closer in feel to the comics then Forever and B&R. |

![]() Batmobile vs Tankmobile Both vehicles are awesome to say the least. I'll start with Burton's car. I love that it looks like a car that would be in the comics with its own variations. It has all kinds of gears and gadgets like collapsing to fit through narrow alleys. It is a really cool car that fits Batman and even looks like a bat ... kind of.The thing I liked about Nolan's tank was how well it fit into his movie. A lot of Batman's gear came from R&D so it makes sense he would get his transport from there. I like how powerful it seems. Burton's car does not look like it has a lot of power IMO. I was a little disappointed that he uses the same car in TDK. I was hoping it would be his first car and that it would adapt and become more like the Batmobile. Maybe it will in the third film [Show spoiler] .Both cars are freaking awesome but I would probably want the tank. You go "flying on rooftops" with the tank. Of course, the other can drive on walls if you go by Batman Forever ![]() |
