So Aramis made the suggestion for me to check out the PA 120. Currently I'm using my Yamaha 8" from my apartment days. Worked out great there, but now it's a little undersized at my new house. Just upgraded the fronts and looking at doing the same to the rears and sub. I'm thinking the Sub should take priority over rears and I can live with what I've got for now. Budget, wife, and 2 kids are whats holding me back from doing this all at once! My room is about 14' wide and 25' long. Any suggestions? thanks!

ok so i finally watched AVATAR at -40db,, the entire movie.. i was greatly pleased at the performance of the subs.. but was not happy to hear the huge tree fall... which is not due to the sub (which i found out later,,, its the editing)... i still enjoyed every minute

eddy,

I upgraded from a 8" Yamaha and I cannot explain the difference. It is night and day. Much like explaining color if you've only seen black and white.

Every movie (really) is a new experience. There are (very) low sounds you will completely miss without a good sub. Now that I own the PA-120 I demo it to all and everyone! Even kids can hear the difference (can anyone say Skadoosh!). If you ever get one - check out Kung-fu Panda - the Skadoosh scene. It will blow you away!

Good luck - let us know where you land.

Default Minority Report - a mini-Review

Wow, the PA-120 really shined in quite a few scenes. Especially in the fight/chase scene with Colin Farrell in the factory where they're firing these mini-shotguns that twirl around to re-load. When those things went off, it was a Seriously Massive LFE THUMP that hits you as hard as it appears to hit them. Your chest feels it just as the men who are getting shot did. Very Nice indeed. Rent it, buy it, watch it - just be prepared to be blown away (no pun intended) as usual, by the PA-120 Sub - or Subs, if you're like those of us with "Dualies"

Ummm, I would Hope so.

I can't wait to see AVATAR. After seeing how Gorgeous MONSTERS, INC. looked (again, just on my 50" 720p DLP!), I'm thinking I'll be blown away with the PQ. The Audio side of things is probably going to be something to induce mass quantities of

Eddysnake.

Make sure you ask Eric (from the link) for a discount coupon/code. I think they give you 10 or 15% off - it will come to 223 shipped.

Right - usually it is, or has been, "tv15".

I'm moving fast, as I might be selling my old receiver and subwoofer today, giving me clearance for the purchase of the PA 120! From the gallaries, it looks like everyone has the Black, but I see they offer cherry as well. My fronts are all cherry now, and while I'm partial to the sub being black, I'm wondering if anyone knows how the cherry looks?

edit:

Does anyone think I'll benefit from keeping my Yahama SW and adding the PA 120. The sale value isn't too great for the Yamaha and I'm just wondering if it would be more beneficial to have 2 rather than getting little for the Yammy?

sold my receiver today and just put an email into Eric about the cherry PA 120. On the website, I also noticed the Bic H-100 on sale for $10 more. Would you guys recomend taking a look at that or stick with the PA 120?

Looks like it's an older model. Already got a response back from Eric. I'm going with the PA 120! Cannot wait!

I can't speak for the BIC. If I remember, the Bic 100 is not as good as the PA-120 and the Bic 200PL (something like that) is a little better. I think the are all made on the same assembly line.

You will love the PA-120 since your are upgrading from a 8" Yahama. The difference is night and day.

Make sure you calibrate your system - I used the Radio Shack SPL to get all the speakers set to the same decibals.
