USA Black Sabbath: Paranoid (Classic Albums) due out June 29th!

On June 29th, Eagle Rock Entertainment will release Black Sabbath's Paranoid (1970) on Blu-ray as part of their Classic Albums documentary series. Audio specifications have not yet surfaced.

Black Sabbath: Paranoid Blu-ray

Quote:
Honoring the 40th anniversary of the Black Sabbath album Black Sabbath: Paranoid, Eagle Rock Entertainment has announced it as part of its Classic Albums collection, and for the first time also on Blu-ray, with a street date of June 29. For this documentary, original members Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass), and Bill Ward (drummer), along with their original engineer, deliver the story behind Paranoid.

The Blu-ray chronicles the creation of the locomotive force and unrelenting energy behind these tracks, which ignited an electrified and unforeseen brand of blues-rock. The comprehensive collection of interviews, demonstrations, archive videos, and feature cuts from timeless epics such as "War Pigs," "Iron Man," and the title track, is complemented with 40 minutes of bonus features.

yes indeed. bought a few weeks ago at http://www.play.com (often unbeatable prices, in addition to free postage)

it's a good release. in terms of content, it's not among the best in the series - even though the album is dealt with well and the disc features an extensive selection of bonus features.
audio and pq wise, it's very good imo. especially the sound is superior to many of the standard dvds

btw; the doucmentary leaves you (at least me) thinking that piano player benmont tench and guitarist mike campbell aren't given enough credit for the sucess of Tom Petty's records. especially some of tench's parts are brilliant once they are brought up on the desk.

anyways...

my point to begin with was; when the tom petty disc has a lpcm stereo track, I'm sure the sabbath disc will have the same

The Classic Albums series is overall an outstanding production. I hope they continue to make it for years and years to come. So many great albums to examine

Who bought it? I just watched the main feature and I am about to watch the bonus features. great stuff. Early Sabbath is a big mystery to me so this helps clarify things. It's nice to see Bill Ward get the credit he deserves for being awesome. I am also glad they discussed the lyrical concepts.

I enjoy the classic album series and have quite few of them on DVD, the one thing that would be great would be to include a 5.1 version of album as bonus! As far as Paranoid, while a great album, I like their debut more.

Does anyone have the deluxe edition of Paranoid from the UK? It's my understanding it has a lossy DTS 5.1 version of the album. I'd like to get it, but it's a little pricey for an album I already own two copies of.
