it may be obvious, but do we actually know coulson was talking to fury???

the chances of it being anyone else are pretty small, but how do we know it was fury??

Because Fury sent him there personally

Ok I just watched the clip for the millionth time

The vehicles don't look like military vehicles...there is one that looks like it is a bright red.

The people 'working' the site might actually just be civilians and Coulson is the first SHIELD agent on the scene.

Yep

Land of Enchantment

I still say like I did a good while back that that part where Hulk gets pissed and throws the rock at the lightning in Incredible Hulk is when Thor fell to Earth. The time line lines up with Iron Man 2.

Anyone agree with me?

Yeah, this is what I thought. There was nothing SHIELD looking about those that were there (looked like locals).

The actor playing Coulson said he'd be in Thor and actually have some action scenes. He was excited.

possible. guess we'll have to wait a whole year to find out!!

There are a few others who can lift Thor's hammer. They include Odin, Odin's father, Bor and Beta Ray Bill. I think Captain America can wield it as well.

In Thor #2 what kind of hit did Thor use on Bor?

The timing seems to line up well but where were the caves again? Anywhere near NM? That would be so sick if the end of Thor was him looking for Hulk and we hear a roar just before a huge rock KOs Thor.

I was just looking at it and there is red in the object that is falling in that scene and it kind of resembles a body. The pictures I posted a page back don't show it well.

The caves were in Virginia I believe.

Hey who says Thor had to fall straight down to New Mexico
He probably came down meteor style

Until Marvel says I'm wrong I think the theory is a good one

I just watched the scene on Blu-ray and reversed/frame-forwarded that scene a bunch of times to investigate for myself. Although I believe the intention of that object falling from the sky was MOST LIKELY meant to represent the rock that The Hulk threw, if you pay attention to the trajectory of both items, they are nowhere in sync with one another. That would be some hundred fold monsoon wind patterns that would move the rock off course by the large of a margin. So, I don't think that it was INTENDED to represent Thor falling to Earth, but I do like that it can be explained as such.

Did a little homework on who exactly can lift the hammer:

Quote:
Enchantments surrounding Mjolnir prevent it from being wielded by anyone except those who have been found worthy. Thus far, this includes Thor, Odin, Tiwaz, Red Norvell, Beta Ray Bill, and Captain America. To anyone else, Mjolnir cannot be lifted from the ground nor wrested from Thor’s grip.

Wait wait wait you guys....I've never even seen something falling in that scene

I was just going off of the lightning storm, the time, and Hulk being pissed

Don't tell me I may actually be on to something

I agree though Petra, even if it wasn't meant to be Thor...the theory works with the facts we have thus far

Hmmm... so where does this clip at the end of Iron Man 2 fit into the whole mix? Will Thor take place after Iron Man 2? If so, and Thor is in that crater, then we have seen the beginnings of the Thor film since Captain America isn't around yet to lift the hammer... and they are the only two that have been announced so far that have the ability.

Oh yeah... look closely and as the camera starts to pan around Hulk in that scene, pause it. Then use the frame forward button repeatedly and you will see something fall from the sky on the top right hand sid of the screen!

I believe that it's meant to represent the rock to show how far Hulk threw it, thus showing another feat of strength. But, if you watch it several times from before he throws the rock, it is physically impossible for that object falling to be the rock since the trajectory of his throw would put the rock way offscreen to our right.

The timeline as we know so far is as follows:

Captain America in the 40s

Formation of SHIELD somewhere in there.

Banner gets his gamma exposure about CORRECTION: about 4.5 YEARS before Iron Man begins (as Stark is held captive for 3 months, so the beginning of Iron Man to when he builds the Mark II is about 3, 3 1/2 months).

Iron Man takes place.

Banner's time in Brazil and his subsequent trip to Virginia takes place at about the same time as Iron Man (158 days plus I believe 2-4 weeks to get to Virginia, which is about 6 months...the time between Iron Man 1 and 2 )

Iron Man 2 begins.

The remainder of Incredible Hulk occurs during Iron Man 2 (thus the clip in the debriefing of Stark from the campus battle) and probably a little after.

Thor is also going on at the same time as the latter half of Iron Man 2 and Incredible Hulk.

Banner is in British Columbia meditating 30 days later.

That's as far out as we know, the latest thing in the universe if Banner in his cabin.

I was assuming Thor takes place during IM 2 as well and that he'd lose the hammer toward the end. It is possible that IM2 happens during Thor and that Thor loses his hammer somewhere in the middle. Can't wait to find out!

I'll have to diagram all this stuff out once we get to Cap next July for everyone to be able to keep up and appreciate the insane attention to detail Marvel has done.

If you want to get technical....Thor starts before EVERYTHING as he is an ancient god

The hammer being in the desert will probably be mid point or slightly before. As that will be when he is sent down to Midgard from Asgard. And that definitely won't be at the very end of the film.
