Z-Corp...off topic but are you affiliated in any way with the Z Corp that makes 3D printers? I have been looking to invest in this company for a few years but it still hasnt gone public. Would be very cool if you were with the company...amazing technology. For anyone interested in what I for one think has a chance of being the microsoft of tomorrow...http://zcorp.com/Products/3D-Printers/155/spage.aspx

Based on other segments on NBC News, this will be a short piece. Probably less than 5 minutes. But it will unfortunately spread FUD to the masses on a national network.

If they drop the fact that Wal-Mart will be selling $98 that Friday then it's obviously biased against Blu-ray.
There's little doubt that they will mention the Walmart sale.

I would have to agree. This article has no bias, though I do agree that Warner needs to choose a side.

he already replied to the hundreds of emails he got complaining about this bad article. Maybe he will learn something about fair and balanced reporting.
He admitted that he did not focus on BD, but rather on the HD-DVD firesale.
That would have been fine IF 3 things were different....
1-he gave the Blu-ray side of the current situation in the war, which he did not
2-his facts were correct, which they were not on many points
3-he renamed his article. It is the worst most misleading article title I have ever seen. It makes it look like either something is wrong with Blu-ray discs or that it is dying.. and yet he hardly mentioned Blu-ray and focused almost entirely on HD-DVD....

lets face it, bad and biased reporting will be found everywhere, all we can do is send in letter and demand a revision or retraction.

It's from NBC....any one not expecting this to be HD postive is fulling themselves. All one has to do is look at MSNBC.com to look at their reporting. It's very pro MS and very pro HD all the time.

With the $99 price point I'm sure this "state of affairs" is just one big commerical for HD.

did anyone actually watch the program? I didn't see it, only read the article that the guy posted.

I'm curious as to what the show actually said.

Exactly. Honestly, if the format war is won because the North American market is too f#cking ignorant to question its media outlets, HD-DVD deserves to win. I am not even going to hit the tangents about the loss of unbiased reporting on network television.

The format war is being fought in North America. Now why is it that Europe and Japan have made informed choices... hmmmm.......

I set my DVR up and recorded that nights episode, but there wasn't anything about High Def in that news cast.

I don't know about that. Having lived over in Europe (Sweden), the prices are extremely high, but the selection is just as good as North America, minus the dumped Chinese imports.

From what I gather, Blu-ray is killing over there. There isn't the same bargain bin demand. Also, I just find the media reporting better.

As for Japan, the fact that both companies are Japanese and one product is being chosen over another is telling. Japan has the best available and at the cheapest prices.

wouldn't this actually be a good thing for blu-ray if they already have a 2-1 advantage in software sales lead and once those 60% realize they have a blu-ray, just increase the lead even more??

"That same email points to how successful the movie "Transformers" has been on HD DVD, its exclusive platform release, selling a 100,000 copies its first day, 190,000 in its first week. "

lies!!!! lol, poor guy.

"And another rough issue for Sony, backing Blu-ray, which still has some key partners in Disney, 20th Century Fox and Lions Gate. HD-DVD enjoys Paramount, Dreamworks and Time Warner."

umm...Sony has Warner also. nice journalism.
great point krispy, what an idiot journalist, if he wanted to make his case he should have had his HD-DVD pole people manufacture a survey that said "despite 99% of PS3 owners using their device as a blu-ray player, and thus more players by a ratio of ___, the disc sales lead ratio is only ___"...what a dumb $#%#, thanks for making OUR TALKING POINTS

They need to do some better fact checking on your article.

WB is a neutral studio not a HD exclusive.

And the survey they reported on with 60% of PS3 owners not knowing of the blu-ray player is 3 months old. So hardly what would be called breaking news.

As to the sales numbers for Transformers there is so much conflicting info out there. That according to most companies the number they sited was the number of units shipped not sold.

Nope nothing wrong here.

Thumbs down

I hate when the media writes up things with a bias.

This is a free thought country and the founding fathers would be tossing in their graves had they known what the press shenanigans is up to with their bias reporting lies favoring HD DVD.

But lucky we all are smart enough to see threw they're propaganda and realize how important it is to snatch up as many bluray as we can so we can put HD DVD out of business for good in 2008!

Man, that article is so bad, misleading and uninformative. He outright says that Time Warner is on the HD-DVD but not the BD side... that's a blatant lie.

PBS has what's called soft bias. If you don't think it's biased then you aren't paying attention.

No offense, but only a moron with no knowledge could see such misrepresentation of the facts and not view that as bias.

Great points at first but then you lose it at the end. Media in Europe and Japan is horribly biased, even worse than here. Japan has gone BD because they are horribly biased againt M$. That is to our benefit and I enjoy it, but it's true. I mean it took the Japanese over 20 years to admit that California grown sticky rice is actually just as good as their homegrown stuff... they resisted that for decades even though our rice is less than half the cost. Don't even get me started on American beef. If you want to pretend that Euro media isn't a joke then you'll have to take that journey by yourself... not even worth discussing.
