We are looking at an LED TV over one having a CCFL backlight for 2011. Has anyone done a side-by-side comparison (both sets on at the same time) of edge-lit over local dimming and saw a meaningful difference between the two. I think black level is getting so good here, the law of diminishing returns is starting to kick in and the new look is going to win out over function.

The other posts here seem to indicate there is not much difference, though sites such as cnet note "poor uniformity and backlight fluctuations" with edge-lit sets.
