Its a no brainer if you haven't already bought it and its tempting even if you have...
Yeah I'm upgrading even though I have The first Blu. Also I want to see Predators, so the Movie Cash will be great.

Total Recall
T2
Stargate

All look better with VC-1/AVC encodes.
Then why did you even ask the question in the first place? You failed upon your first question "Show me one bluray where a vc-1 or avc version didn't look better than the mpeg2 version", which has no answer. Coupled with the fact that your Lionsgate trifecta (T2, Total Recall, Stargate) is a statement based only on speculation, for someone who likes to throw the word "fail" around so much you have indeed failed again.

The real problem with the Lionsgate titles (and nearly all early Lionsgate catalogue titles) are bad TRANSFERS not the codecs used to put them on disc. The UK Total Recall has a much better picture then the Lionsgate US, but that is due to a superior transfer and has nothing to do with it's encode.
Putting the Lionsgate transfer back out but with a different encode is like trying to polish a turd.

Any word on whether this is going to be a remaster or simply a MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 transfer?

Shooter, just to add to the list. Sorry it doesn't support your agenda (really doesn't matter that it wasn't a Blu-ray in the point you're trying to prove).

Actually Kiss Kiss Bang Bang on HD-DVD was a single layer HD-DVD. A single layer HD-DVD with VC-1 is about equivalent to a single layer Blu-Ray with MPEG-2. Both discs in the end looked and sounded the same.

Total Recall - Different Master
T2- Tweaked, Manipulated Master
Stargate - Different Master

FAIL!
You don't even know the difference between a new master and a new transfer...

ALL current T2's share the 2003 master. Total Recall BD's use the same master. FAIL

Well based on the evidence presented so far it appears to be...

-new transfer
-AVC encode
-50 gig

New transfer? - It's been confimed... supposedly anyway, to be a new transfer.

AVC?- The japanese version is confimed to be AVC.

50 GIG?- The original disc was 25 gigs. This version is confimed to be 2 discs. The extras are more than likely the extras from the 2 disc dvd version and could easily fit on ONE 50 gig.

But then you say... " No it'll probably just be the same 2008 disc with the 2nd disc for extras "

I then say ? That's a good point except this version has been confimed to have a commentary track which to my knowledge the 2008 didn't have "

Meaning.... it's a new disc.

Why do you keep arguing with a welcomed and respected "Insider"? Do you honestly think you somehow know more than someone who actually works in the industry?

We want the Insiders here. It's a privilege to have them take time out of their day to answer our questions and be available to us. We don't need you pissing them off to the point they don't feel like it's worth their time. Show a little respect and maturity.

This is interesting. I hope the reviewers here get a screener ahead of time to review for PQ and AQ. I would double dip if there is a significant improvement, but I won't be buying the new edition until I know for sure.

LOL oh gosh...

Insider or not, almost everything he's said in this thread has been either iffy or plain wrong.

Who is contributing more here?

I told you guys a new transfer was coming. Then confirmed the date. Then disc info.

All Cliff has done is bash people wanting a better disc.

Your using a press release as a conformation of a new transfer? More than likely it's a new encode from a different source tape, which probably isn't a new telecine transfer.

More than likely a new AVC encode, but again, is this from a press release or your own first hand knowledge.

This is probably a 2-disc set which included the DVD or a digital copy. I'm betting the film and all supplements are on one Blu-ray.
