I've already been proving it. You just have on your rose colored glasses and refuse to see it.

You don't have to work in the industry to have common sense. You basically told everyone here that going from a 25 gig mpeg2 transfer to a 50 gig AVC transfer won't improve the pq because of the source...and that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard from an " Insider "

Twice the space, better encode, and a higher bit rate won't improve pq??? Seriously.

AVC?- The japanese version is confimed to be AVC.

50 GIG?- The original disc was 25 gigs. This version is confimed to be 2 discs. The extras are more than likely the extras from the 2 disc dvd version and could easily fit on ONE 50 gig.

But then you say... " No it'll probably just be the same 2008 disc with the 2nd disc for extras "

I then say ? That's a good point except this version has been confimed to have a commentary track which to my knowledge the 2008 didn't have "

Meaning.... it's a new disc.
I appreciate all of this info . However, most of this I already knew. I guess what I meant to say was an actual detailed list of special features...not just the "5 hours of special features with commentary" as it's been reported.

Hopefully, some new special features will be present. At least a 10-minute sneak peak of Predators

Wow. This thread has gone down to the sewer -- just like the pizza guy did to find his keys -- in Predator Requiem (which needs to be reprocessed because it is TOO black-heavy, which ruined the movie more than the plot did).

Oh you know a trailer will be there at least. I think they don't wanna list the features because none of them are new.

Every time I see there's been new posts on here, I want to check it out for more news...but it's a little funny the biggest discussion here has been the AVC transfer compared to the MPEG-2 and VC-1 :]

What the hell are you proving? That you can attempt to ramrod your knowledge, or ultimately the lack of, down peoples throats?

Yeah actually, if the source is crap... As is the case of the current master of a title such a Spartacus, a 50-gig movie only encode can't help it...

Now if you take a good source, such as Predtor, and use the same 23.98 transfer on a different tape stock, there will be marginal gains from a new transfer.

Believe me, I'm looking forward to a new Predator disc, but it's because of the extras, unless Fox springs for a completely new telecine transfer of the film, which would cost a few hundred thousand dollars, the picture's not going to improve much, if at all.

There might be a couple Predators related supplements on the disc.

You know what?

I'll shut up until we see pics or a review. But if this turns out to be a new transfer and looks better I want an apology.

If it's a new transfer from a new master, then it will probably look better. That won't prove anything. There has been no official announcement from FOX yet on whether or not that is the case.

If it turns out to be just a new AVC encode on a 50 gig disc and it looks pretty much identical, will you apologize to Cliff and admit you were wrong?

It's just too early to tell (and the disc has too low of an MSRP for me to think money was put into a new master, considering its FOX) whether or not there will be a great improvement. Until we hear some valid news on the subject, people may just be setting themselves up for disappointment. When the disc comes out, if it doesn't look significantly better, everyone and their schnauser will fill this thread with 20 pages worth of complaining.

So in other words in I'm right “ it doesn't prove anything ” but If I'm wrong I should apologize?

All I've said THIS WHOLE TIME is that this movie will look better with an AVC encode on a 50 gig bluray. I never said to expect a drastic improvement...just an improvement. If you can't read that's not my problem. Read my posts in here from the beginning. I never once stated it'd be some magical super duper hd revelation.

Looks like we'll just have to wait on the screen captures.

No. Just like in your post right after this one, you have continually said that the same transfer used for the first Predator release would look better with an AVC encode on a 50 GB disc, as opposed to an MPEG-2 encode on a 25 GB disc. If it does come out as the same transfer with an AVC encode and there's a noticeable improvement, then you can gloat away. A new master and transfer, however, was not your original argument. None of us that are saying we can't know for sure that it will look noticeably better than the first release have an agenda. We're just giving fair warning that it's still too early to start pre-ordering and planning guests over for a screening based on the assumption that the presentation will be superior. You, on the other hand, keep saying it will look better, as if it's already a known fact.

Also, just for the record, you started all of the "eye rolling" and sarcasm. So, I slightly doubt you would even come back to this thread and admit you were wrong, if that were the case.

Actually I said both. In fact "A new transfer is inevitable. Predator can look better" WAS MY FIRST POST IN THE THREAD

First I said that Predator can look noticably better. Then Cliff claimed that he saw a newer print and suggested that it its impossible for it to look that much better than the current disk.

I then stated that the pq would have a noticeable increase just buy using a bigger disk and higher bitrate alone.

Translation: I said that as long as the new disk uses a 50 gig and avc or Vc-1 it's going to look better. Remaster or not.

If this disk looks better than the original I am right. Period.
