To add to the discourse, the last two major PR pieces about HD-DVD is really not about HD-DVD but about the X-Box 360: the Cymphony crap and the op piece by the head of that PR firm.

It means that winning the console game is more important to MS than helping Toshiba get HD-DVD off the ground.

What you also have to realize is that only two plants in the world are making the blue-velvet diodes - Nichia and Sony. All of Sony's diodes are going to the PS3. EVERYONE ELSE gets Nichia's, and that includes Toshiba's second gen player and the 360 add-on. A Nichia production ramp up would show a small increment of production volumes for other CEs, while a Sony ramp up would be dedicated to PS3s only.

MS must be really worried about the PS3 factor to have TWO PR pieces out within one week.

By the way, did anybody find out about the Taiwanese and HK PS3 numbers?
