Spiderman will sell very well over a period of time. Also remember that a lot of people spent a lot of money the past few weeks on discs, so maybe they are pacing their purchases. It's easier to spend $25 on a disc than it is to spend $70 on a boxset. Like I said, I think the box sets will set very well for Christmas.

Who's to say alot of blu people didn't buy spidey for the same reason? At $60.99, sony and bby were going in for the kill, this boxset was priced to sell. There have been discs the last few weeks, but this WAS the disc for blu this xmas. THere will be a few other hot ones like Harry, Die Hard and Pirates, but Blu was OUR Transformers for this holiday season and AGAIN HD Dud is showing that all though they are currently losing they are STILL keeping the game close.

Well, if this "free" remote deal is real, it would (along with the associated two movies) be a great Christmas gift for your PS3 owning friends who don't yet play videos. And if you're giving someone one of the new $399 PS3s, go a few dollars more and include the remote. You know you want those two videos anyhow.

I bought the box set as did many, this total isn't counting the box set.

I feel a majority bought the box set because of 1 & 2 were not sold separately.

These figures are lowwwwwwwwwwww

I agree. I bought the boxset also. I wanted all three.

How do we get clarification on these numbers? Sony?

Greekjgg, I don't think Spiderman was our Transformers. Two older movies that almost everyone already has on SD and one recent movie that didn't score very well with the fans really isn't something I would consider a big release. I did buy the boxset though because I like the series.

I think Pirates 3 and Harry Potter will be more of better seller. And I also think Rats will beat Spiderman sales.

I think Rats will also beat Spiderman and Prirates and Harry will do very well.

There were two "problems" with Spiderman 3......like/dislike of this film was about 50/50.......and the price of the BD was high.

Just my .02.......

We need to get every PS3 owner to ask for just one blu-ray disc for Christmas. Just one, and we're suddenly, uh, like 10:1 over HD DVD (okay, so I didn't do the math and I don't really know what the ratio would be. Yes, I suck).

I'm dreeeeaming of a blu-ray Christmas ... just like the ones I had, like, you know, a year ago.

If these numbers include the trilogy then it is very disapointing. However, I can't imagine that they sold 70k box sets to bring it to a total of 200k. $70 overall is a lot to buy a box set and I can see this one selling more closer to xmas.

Overall, we did still win the game, but I think everyone here expected a blowout which we didn't see??????

If you're talking about the Nielsen numbers for tomorrow then you're right. If, however, you're talking about the Nielsen numbers that get reported a week from tomorrow, then you may be in for a surprise. Right now --- the Rat Rules!

You guys HONESTLY believe that Rat will outsell SPidey 3 on BLU?????

Please explain the rationale??????????

I believe most people are in my boat. I did by Rat but on regular DVD (although I wanted it on blu). My kids have their own tv in the toy room so they need to be able to play it on that tv too, blu isn't cheap enough to justify a 2nd room yet. I'm not buying both!!!

I would consider the bulk of blu Rat sales to be Audio/Videophiles, not a casual customer and there are more casual Spidey fans, then Ratphiles that would buy Blu.

Easy. Rats eat spiders.

But seriously, folks. I think Rat will appeal to a broader audience. Though you do have a point that when buying for the kids, the sales will be on DVD. But the Blu-ray Rat has been #3 (and now #4) on Amazon for a couple of days now, which doesn't indicate how many units sold, but it does show it's selling quite a few. I haven't paid that much attention to Spidey sales on Amazon, how high did the Blu-ray Spidey 3 get on Amazon? And, of course, the boxed trilogy muddies the water.

I think Rats when the numbers drop will have beaten spiderman by a good number. I also think Cars will be around this 130k mark as well making it an even better week for BD. Look for a 4 or 5 to 1 lead when the numbers come next week.

It does appeal to a wider audience which is why more will be bought on reg DVD in place of blu. I don't deny it will sell well but to say it's going to sell more then 130K copies to beat out spidey? That is a huge feat for a Disney movie that really didn't do that well compared to Cars, Incredibles, etc.....

I really think Disney needs to take a page from HD Dud and give a discount to buy both versions. Heck, I have to be able to play it in my car, the kids TV, etc.......

The thing you are all forgetting is that the best Bd titles all have legs. S3 will continue to sell well throughout the rest of the year (see Casino Royale). I have no doubts S3 will sell over 250,000 copies by the end of the year. And this is in spite of the trilogy box set and the free pack in with the PS3. The other thing to consider is there are many great titles available on Bd unlike that other format.

Pixar (and, thus, Disney) is going to score big. I don't think I've heard of anyone buying the Blu-ray Rat by itself (always with either Cars, Pixar shorts, or both).

Hey, anyone know how many PS3 40s are getting Spidey with it?

Amazon and Fry's had a sale just like that. Buy Cars and Rat for $33. I picked my two copies up at BB and told them about the Fry's sale. They gave me both movies for $14.95 a piece. They also gave me Meet the Robinsons and Polar Express for the same price. All 4 movies totaled $63 out the door.

Prolly because of the two different versions of Spidey, it never broke into the *regular* amazon.com Top 10, as did Tr. and Rat and even Cars. So, just going by that, Rat, and possibly Cars, will sell more than Tr. or Spidey. But, again, there was an individual title and a box set for Spidey. We'll just have to wait for the exact figures tomorrow and in the near future.

Joon, I think he meant a discount if you buy the SD and the Blu version.

Good point and a big contributor to Blu beating that other format in sales every week since about forever. Tomorrow's numbers should be interesting.
