Spidey will continue to be hanging around in the sales chart now and after till holidays especially Holidays arent too far from now.

There are many PS3 owners still dont own Spidey box Or Spidey 3 alone and expect the 130 K to grow and keep growing.

As a conclusion, NO ONE SHOULD UNDERSTIMATE THE POWER OF PS3.

PS3 is the real king OF BD .

If it had sold 4,000,000 copies they'd still be asking if it included the box set. They don't know how to receive good news.

Maybe, but just like max and last week....we all "knew" WB was having a press conference or release...and Wicky told us it was to go over their holiday releases....yet no conference or release came to be.

Wicky is great, but hes not perfect

one does have to wonder if the spiderman sales numbers has anything to do with AVS closing its HD Software Forums right before numbers for Spider-Man 3 comes out.

There is no reason not to ask questions when seeking an understanding of the numbers. This number, is astronomical if box set numbers are not included. Why? Because the box set was outselling the single disc by a large amount on Amazon. That would probably double the 130000 number. THAT would be impressive.

Just wondering if you read the parts where I said "what BIG BD movie"? Key word is "big". Is Delta Farce a "big" movie? Also you have to understand the concept of something having "legs". That means does it maintain its momentum or is it just a quick burst and then done. Given that Delta Farce had nothing to start with, there was then no potential for the momentum to sustain... there was no opportunity for it to have "legs".

This lesson brought to you by local neighborhood repository of common sense.

It will be the number one standard and high def disc this week, not doubt.

I just doubt it will put up spidey 3 numbers.

You got it. Now, I can certainly understand the veterans on this forum, the multi-thousand-posting-plus folks who've been fighting in the Blu trenches for probably way more than a year, and who've seen more downs than ups in the past, when it looked like Blu might not gain traction and the worst technology might have a chance at succeeding. If they are cautious, I fully understand.

Now, I still consider myself a total newbie here, and will for some time to come; but when I see other newbies fret and equivocate and moan all over good, stolid numbers, I really wonder what their sense of perspective is. What's their agenda?

I mean, we don't need folks raining on these several victory parades each week. For those of us buying the machines, and buying the Blu disks, week after week after week, while watching the fantastic Sony and Disney ads on TV for Spidey and PS3's and Rat and Cars, we want to be able to celebrate because we're a part of all of this in our own, humble way.

Precisely. This should be fun and everything that the data is showing IS fun and suggests victory.

To win this war, we need to blow away the competition so that the decision to go blu is obvious. To pull out a squeaker (130k vs 110K), is not making the decision any easier for Warner, paramount, whomever is guaging the war.

Everyone keeps talking about the titles having "legs", whose to say that Transformers won't? Hell, they just sold 90k players last week. They have to buy something for them, don't they?

pretty sure transformers demonstrated it didn't based on last weeks nielsens......you dont drop 70-75% after the first week and have legs.

In theory, yes. But you forgot that we are talking about people who buy something based on price alone. Now, if I were a tightwad who just blew $98 on an HD player, would I buy Transformers on HD at $29, or would I buy it on regular def dvd and pay $14.99 at Target or Walmart? Nine times out of ten, the tightwad will get the regular dvd. But more than likely, they'll just rent their discs rent from Blockbuster or Netflix or wherever and just use it as a regular dvd player.

My point is that the $99 players give titles like Transformers the ability to have legs just like we are pointing out certain titles will do the same for blu, so its really a wash.

Although I am sure the studios are looking at these numbers, imho they are not as relevant as the overall numbers or the head to head numbers (i.e. Warner releases).

The number one problem is that you are comparing apples to oranges. The fact that Spidey 3 sold 130000 on BD does not provide any indication as to how many Transformer BDs would have sold. They are different movies!
