cant transfer movies from usb to ps3

i have a sandisk usb flash drive and every time i copy a movie to it and plug it into the ps3 it doesint have the file i just copied, i can transfer pictures just fine but not movies does anyone know how to do this?

what format do you have the movie file in?

Like has been already said, the movies have to be in the correct format to work on the PS3, there are a few free converter programs on the internet that will convert your video file to a PS3 friendly format. a good one can be found here:

well when i put the mouse over the file its says windows media audio/video file

you'll need to convert it to mpeg or mp4

PSVideo9 is good.

There's another program called Super that's also free and now has built in profiles for PS3 that work great. (And super converts just about any video format)

Alternatively, you can stream movies directly from your PC using TVersity and view them via your PS3. It converts the file (where necessary) on-the-fly. I use it all the time for viewing downloaded TV shows (for timeshifting purposes only!), and personally think it's a great app.
