Now imagine if HD DVD hadn't bribed Paramount.

We'd be seeing 4:1 sales ratios today.

One week's data will not move the ytd, visibly. However, the Q4 will move Q1-Q3 total.

Wow...the dropoff stinks for HD DVD

1 Transformers -100.00
2 Face/Off - 12.35
3 2001 - 12.30
4 300 - 12.19
5 Heroes:S1 - 12.03

That means that the rest sold in the neighborhood of 5k a week.

Clearly a win, but not by as much as I was gunning for (80/20). I miscalculated the legs of Transformers. I thought they would be down to about 15% of Spidey 3.

It's going to get harder and harder for HD-DVD to keep their heads above the water as we go into the holidays. They only have a handful of titles that will move good numbers week after week. Blu has a boatload of great titles coming!

I'm still holding with my 84/16 for next week. The Rat has ruled retail shelves around here!

Looks like TF sold around 41,000 copies. Surprisingly good legs. But I bet a large chunk came from the $99 sale.

Shows how important the bribe to get P/DW to stop releasing on Blu-ray was.

Without Transformers as an exclusive, HD DVD would have been completely destroyed this week. Very probably 90:10.

As it was they were merely given a damn good thrashing. Still, better than nothing I suppose.

Great news .

With the Pixar movies out this week, next week's numbers should EASILY inch towards the 80:20 ratio...

Or surpass it .

Fantastic job supporting Blu, everyone. Let's keep it up through the Holidays .

I'd like to point out what happens when both sides release a blockbuster. HD releases one and loses 51/49. Blu ray releases one and wins 71/29. If HD wanted Transformers to be a huge hit or a success, it would have won like Spidey did, but no, which is very telling of the state of DuD

So is 300 still and The Shining. 2001 Space Odyssey is about equal...must've been a bad movie (i wouldn't know never seen it)

So is it safe to say spiderman 3 and the trilogy combined sold 200,000 plus copies. Thats not counting each disc in the trilogy is it? I would love to talk some smack, but dont want to say anything thats not truthful.

i think 80:20 is a very attainable ratio for next week's numbers. no A2 clearance sale to combat this one, too.

Default Great News!!!

The rest of the year is going to definitely Blu as well. We have far too many exclusive blockbusters for HD-DVD to ever win.

sigh.

Sony didn't say the war is in a stalemate.

The POS journalist who wrote the article used the word stalemate in HIS interpretation of what was said.

Sony said basically "It'll be tough to win", and the journalist twisted it to "He declared a stalemate!"
