I love the evil dead series, but hate this movie, actually i watched it again last sunday just in case a second view would give me another opinion but it didnt. I cant find anything funny, and the puking scenes are disgusting after showing them like 3 times or something.

Please bring back bruce campbell and do evil dead 4.

How is that not genius, it so Tom and Jerry in it's setup.

But a lot of people don't like this film, sure you may have your reasons, but those reason probably will go against what the movie was stading for. This was never trying to be anything ground-breaking, it was a film which was trying to be fun and was trying to be scary. Now maybe you weren't scared by it (I was) but you can at least say you had fun.

This film is showing how horror should be made, silly and over the top, with goofy scares. The horror genre was never serious, so why are so many trying to make it serious.
Nothing farther from the truth (imo)...The Exorcist was a very serious film as was the Shining, Rosemary's Baby, The Omen etc etc....but then again I find that there has not been a scary film made in this country since The Shining. I did not have fun with this film at all..in fact I think I enjoyed Vacancy and 1408 a heck of alot more than this film (not that they were great either). It's too bad the Horror genre is not what it used to be before the slasher films took over.
To see a good horror film nowadays you must turn to the foreign cinema.

Though I hate to say it, The Exorcist is quite dated, and has lost it's effectivness it used to have. That aside, you have proven me wrong, many films can take horror genre seriously. But how many scary films could work yet still be believable in real-life.

I gave it an average rating the first time because basically Raimi just copied himself. There were so many Evil Dead throw backs that it got annoying.

I kept thinking during the movie - "Dude! We get it! You're the director of the Evil Dead movies! Sheesh!"

Good horror/humor movie - doesn't hold up on repeat viewings.
I liked the Evil Dead Refrences, made me feel happy that I was an avid movie fan.

I think you've hit something right on the head as to why horror films are not nearly as good as they used to be. I do not feel like THE EXORCIST has lost it's punch but I'm sure many current audiences would.
That's why filmmakers are replacing scares, atmosphere, and good direction with endless gore, torture, mocking humor, terrible CGI effects, and lame
ideas....

I browsed IMDB to see what else he has done that I've watched lately besides the craptastic Spiderman 3 and Drag Me to Hell. I think I read it wrong, he was the producer not the director.

I thoroughly enjoyed Drag Me to Hell. It was not only a B-movie blast, but it was also great to see Sam Raimi make his long-awaited return to the horror genre. I would argue this is one of the best horror films of the decade.

Drag Me to Hell was one of the best movies of 2009 IMO. I took some friends to the movies to see it and they had no idea what to expect from a Sam Raimi horror flick and they were very entertained. The movie did it's job.

If Raimi had used practical effects instead of CGI, it would have been his best movie!!!

I didn't really like it, it was not scary and it felt more silly than funny to me.

I just watched it tonight and I am confused about the ending.
[Show spoiler]If whoever was in possession of the cursed object, wouldn't they be sent to hell? I thought Justin Long's character would have been sent because he had the button
. Other than that, I enjoyed it.

[Show spoiler]You're forgetting the rules of the Lamia. In order for possession to actually pass from one person to another with an accursed object, you have to make a gift of it first.

[Show spoiler]she gave and gifted the WRONG BUTTON, again if my memory serves me right. that's why she went to hell she still had the accursed button!
someone else jump in here if i'm wrong! I did like the movie and loved the sound it was all over the place. i hope they make a sequal i think the ending left it with good potential for one as long as they bring back the two original leads.

[Show spoiler]No, she didn't give the old gypsy woman a button, she gave her a coin that she meant to give her boyfriend. I guess she confused the envelopes.
