I think a more interesting question is what are you doing with the movies you have replaced?

Keeping them, selling them or giving them away?

Default I told myself I wouldn't but....

Especially when there's a sale, it seems so easy to spend under $20.00 to replace a regular DVD title. While I voted all of 'em, that's only mostly true. A few titles are still too expensive on Blu ($27.95, for example) to replace; but when they drop below $20.00, look out!

And I give my previously viewed SDs away to friends who seem to be giving them a good home. Those that aren't even viewed and still have the wrapping on them, I give them as gifts.

We could send our DVDs to the fan boys. They won't notice any difference in PQ or SQ anyway.

Replacing about 20%. A few that I wasn't have been replaced because of good deals, but other than that it is just new releases.

Now would be a good time to sell off as many of thoose DVD's as you can - cause they will be totaly worthless in a few years and we won't get squat for em'

The Movie industry must be rubbin' their hands together as we trade up our titles from VHS to DVD to Blu ....

I've got my 400 disc Sony that holds my standard dvd's (it's almost full) and those dvd's stay right there but when a title comes out for blu that I have already, upgrading is the only option.

At the rate I'm going, I'm going to need a 400 disc blu player soon.

I am gradually replacing the DVDs that I own if the Blu-ray version is really worth it PQ and AQ wise. Some dramas or comedies I will keep for now as I don't really need to have those in blu... probably end up replacing them sometime down the road when this becomes the standard format and are cheaper.
It's hard to keep trying to replace some and buy new releases at the same time when you only have limited money to spend. I guess I need to be selling a DVD lot on ebay in the next few days, to support my new habbit

at the current prices, I am only replacing my favorites and won't dive in fully until they are under 10 bucks....

anything new that I like is mine and anything that I really like and already own on DVD will get the proverbial doubledip...

yes for me - I'll probably get to most if not all movies. Although I purposely stopped buying most movies a few years ago specifically to avoid this.

Most of my TV on DVD is one thing I don't really plan on replacing a lot of and I don't think I'll have the opportunity to replace a lot of it. Can't imagine studios being able to get away with some of the crappy quality releases on Blu Ray - although I'd be happy with complete sets at DVD quality on Blu Ray to save some shelf space if the price was right.

Cool

I have just over 700 DVD's, but probably will only double dip on two or three hundred of them. Why worry about chick flix or B & W flix on Blu? Of course, any action or war movies are a must.

Actually I am between "all of them" and "only if on sale." I would say almost all, but I don't care if they are on sale or not. If it is a movie that would not really benefit from HD over DVD and the transfer isn't great I will not. Certain things like "Knocked Up" I might not replace, but things like Lawrence of Arabia that were 150mm movies no question.

i've replaced a few - ie scanner darkly, and the first pirates movie (i hadnt got round to purchasing the second by the time the blu-rays came out) but only because they are big movies and can benifit from being blu

i would like to upgrade most movies to blu but that's gonna take some time, just like when i upgraded a few from video to DVD. lol

I am only replacing some of my DVD titles. Not because they go on sale, but because there are several titles that I want to own in the best format possible.

Good poll!

Yep,

If I could I would replace them all. If it was worth buying on DVD,.. it's worth buying on Blu Ray.

Most of my collection is re-buys. That sounds sad but actually it just means the movie was something I wanted and now I have a better way to watch it. I usually get a few bucks back from selling the DVD's and it's not like Blu Rays are expensive anyhow (considering what you get for the money.)
