I also said it was the majority of major studio releases, there's bound to be thousands of discs released already on a myriad of smaller labels and companies.
And being Region & Code Free I buy from pretty much everywhere. Which expands the list greatly. Well... Amazon UK and EzyDVD Australia anyway. I made the huge mistake of not going Region-Free with the DVD's till 2005. Really screwed myself there. Not going to suffer the same errors in judgment with BD's.

Still.... If it was 5 years ago I would be at around 1400 titles right now. I love the fact that I have grown enough as a human being that I didn't just go out and buy everything because I could. Which is exactly what I did with DVDs. My average cost per disc for all 873 right now is $14.88. Even lower if I add in what I got back from the DVD's I sold off as I replaced them with BD's. I average about $600 to $800 a month in discs. Which really, if you think about it, isn't that bad if you can afford it.

Cheaper than crack. But more addictive.

I am going to run out of room before the end of the month. Right now I am having a major issue trying to figure out how the hell I am going to fit all the TV Sets I have in the tiny area I have mapped out. And then still have room left for BD's after that. I just don't want to be one of these idiots who has an entire basement filled with discs. It's vulgar and offensive in my opinion. Already looks pretentious enough. Have come up with a great solution for the DVD's. Wish I was that intelligent with the TV stuff.

Adding HT pics later. Check it out. You will see what I mean. It sucks ass.

I figured I'd join in this shlong measuring contest. I'm not at 800+ but I do have almost 1000 DVD's plus 400+ BD's. I have my whole collection up as well as pics of my stuff as well. It's fun that someone finds this stuff interesting. Usually I just get comments about overspending from relatives and friends.

Toys are kind of fun too.

There it is, it may not be as impressive as some but I love the idea of having a better selection of movies than a Mom & Pop video store from the 80's in my own home.

Exactly. That was the dream as a kid stuck in a endless sea of crappy and degrading VHS Tapes. Laserdiscs were way to expensive to mass collect. However, I still mourn their demise. DVD changed everything. Mind you, I still have a crap load of VHS & LD Rips of stuff that never made it to DVD. And a crap load of Work Prints and Bootlegs of questionable quality now and days. Not to mention a obscene lot of HD Rips in MKV. Both created and obtained. There is not much I don't have or can't get a copy of at this point. Which never would have been possible back in the day.

Isn't it crazy that in some ways we have actually achieved the dream of the amazing collection. Now I just wish I had enough time to watch it all. I want old school video shelves in my house. I want an actual video store environment that I can walk into and scan different genres. Unfortunately as much as my wife loves the collection I don't think she go for the mock video store.

Unless the money aspect doesn't really bother you that much
Oh come on........you can watch Coming to America over and over again. How can you ever get tired of Raaandy Waaaatson!!??

Love your enthusiasm. Hate your idea. It is just too tacky for my taste. More power to you if that is your idea of awesomeness. I am still trying to come to grips with the fact that I have no walls in my basement. It really throws everything off. Mind you, it still looks pretty great down there considering.

I'm with you...... I have a tiny collection compared to you (1,200 or so DVDs and a couple hundred Blu-rays) but I've always tried to store them somewhere that I could access them all, but not "display" them..... I know people love their collections, but I have yet to look at a setup with nice crown molding, bay windows, great cable-management, and a wall-mounted flat-panel and said "Wow those 4 shelves covering your wall that are full of Blu-rays looks great"

Look at the 'top rated' on this site, and you'll rarely find walls filled with media...... Niub-Niub is a great example of creative storage....... Or look how clean "The Force" 's setup looks..... it's because there aren't piles of discs everywhere..... mine are currently 'out in the open' but that's temporary (since my wife took over the storage room )

I can't wait to see pictures of your setup as well....... looks good from what you have listed!

I buy most everything out of Amazon. Wait for deals and just order. Went Prime which is the best $80 I ever spent not knowing if i really needed too. Everything shows in 48 hours in most cases. Do the occasional store "pick up" at Best Buy. Sam's Club is more or less useless. But Costco can be great on occasion. Loved Fry's in California. Ultimate Electronics has picked up the dirt low BD banner quite well. I was weeping the Fry's loss. I try not to buy used because like buying a USED CAR... it just feels like your buying someone else's crap. I would say about 3% of stash was unwrapped by someone else. For the most part, if your smart about it, you can get a crap load of great discs really cheap. Just wait on anything you don't have to have when it comes out and watch the trends. That would be my advise.

Up. Just click. It's not even close to done but everyone will get the idea of what I am going for. Explain it rather well.

My small but proud collection. It's missing a lot of titles that I want.

Also, nice collections guys! I wish I could afford as much blus as some of you probably can. One day I will though. I'm also addin' new blus to my collection every now and then. Also just ordered The Longest Day, Rio Bravo, The Dirty Dozan and How the West Was Won. I also try and keep my images updated as best I can in my gallery. Every time I get new blus I update with a new pic. Check it out. Would love to read your comments and answer any questions!
