As stated yesterday, that's an Alien/Predator fanboy site, so its credibility is doubtful.

They are all movies.
I think his point is that a "Movie Lover" loves to watch movies, lots of them, its their hobby.

A "film Enthusiast" is also a movie lover, but they also care about the integrity of the film/movie. They care if its taken care of, properly stored, properly exhibited, properly scanned, remastered, transfered and represents what the movie/film was originally meant to LOOK LIKE.

A Film enthusiast is simply a movie lover that is even more obsessive about the same hobby.

I dunno those screen shots don't look bad, especially the ones with the predator they seem to reveal allot more.

+1 They have cranked the brightness up so high that it looks very unnatural.

Yes. They even think it looks great. The grain is gone!!! That's all they can say... I'm afraid this will encourage Fox to do the same with Aliens...

I agree, the last paragraph really shows the reviewer doesn't seem to know all that much about it
Quote:
Make no mistake, Predator has never looked so good. All the grain and dust has been completely removed from the entire movie.
The fact that he throws dust removal and grain removal into the same sentence makes me seriously doubt whether this reviewer knows what he's talking about:
- grain is inherent to the picture. Some people hate it, others love it. But it's not a defect, it's part of the original film
- dust is not inherent to the picture. It's a defect due to the aging of the film and should in all cases be cleaned up when possible.

That's why you read sometimes about 'grain lovers' but never read something like 'dust lovers'. The fact that he throws it all into the same pot makes me very skeptical as to the value of this review.

I'm pretty sure that the alien transfers have already been finalized for a while now.

There is also a very discernible difference between a movie and a film.

Care to venture a guess?

I wrote this for an article back in 1999:

"I also believe there is a difference between the terms film and movie, feel they are often misused, will probably misuse them somewhere below. A movie, to me, is bubblegum entertainment, everything from the latest Adam Sandler debacle to such high-profile releases as "Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace." Movies, by my definition, are crowd pleasers, built for speed but not necessarily built to last. A film, on the other hand, can be just as crowd pleasing, but it offers the viewer more: a look into our social or political consciousness, a firm stance for or against a debatable issue, the exposure of a harmful truth or a greater good. Both share the same conventions of plot and structure, but the big difference is this: a movie answers all of our questions, while a film tries to raise new ones."

I'll admit it, I bought this one today. It is just $15 at Walmart and it comes with $10 in Hollywood Movie Money for either The A-Team, Knight and Day, or Predators.

If it's shot on film of any kind I say it's a film.

Even films shot purely on digital cameras have a printed film version. A great example would be District 9. It was shot with the Red One in 1.85:1 and was also used as a 35mm on film.

According to Sigourney Weaver, she gave the set to her daughter for Christmas last year, so they have been completed for a while now.
