I've had my share of buying used and off the Internet. Your father is right...you could be buying their problem. Why else would they be selling? Honda's are great cars. I currently own 2 and in the past have owned a total of 6. It's a basic Civic EX with some minor mods..mods that don't need require premium fuel though. So I doubt he's been consistent with that. I find it funny and completely unnessessary that he mentiones he uses premium gas, ALWAYS, but doesn't specify what kind of oil he puts in.
Do you have a personal mechanic you can take it to who can look over the car? Def Run the Carfax. It's not going to hurt to meet the guy in person and take it for a spin. Make sure the tranny shifts well. The price isn't bad. Personally I'd go with an RSX they are a little nicer and you can get them in a 6sp manual. Keep an eye out for the s2000 as well. They've dropped in value significantly over the past few years. You can literally get one for 10k now. Why get a Civic when you can have an S2000 for a few grand more? That might not be practical for your situation though. I've got one and love it. Hit me up if you have any questions. Good luck. |
