Why does Red bull cost 5 times as much as a Pepsi?

Hellooooooooooooo???

The Illusionist isn't trying to shock people with its twist, but merely trying to conclude the story. The Prestige is one of the best films ever at examining obsession. The Illusionist makes no attempt at trying to delve into complex issues. The Prestige is a sci-fi film masquerading as a magician film. The Illusionist is a love story masquerading as a magician film. In the end, the simpler tale (the Illusionist) prevails, because its simplicity is what makes it more successful. Had the Prestige stuck with its great examination of obsession and not delved into cliche, it would have been even better.
Isn't it the other way around?

I thought The Illusionist was way more "Hollywoody" and I thought it was a much poorer movie. It also actually had a crappy "twist" or was that not meant to be a twist?

If this flunked in it's second week, then I could say, yeah you're right, Quality doesn't sell a movie, but this movie doesn't apply that logic!
You said it perfectly, its BASIC LOGIC!!!!

haha I knew someone would ask this. I loved his performance I just didn't mention it in my review bc Frank is great always. I just figured I would be stating the obvious. ha no but I should have mentioned him and that was my fault.

Im surprised you only give it 3. I figured you would like this a little more than that.

The Seventh Seal - 3.5/5

It was good, but I didn't enjoy it too much. Just not my type of film, but I learned that Max von Sydow was Swedish

Why? It was good.

I think that statement was unduly harsh and unnecessary. Surfdude is absolutely correct--marketing has a lot to do with how successful a movie is, not its quality. Hype is why Avatar did so well, whether you want to admit it or not. All films have marketing and trailers, but not all films are proclaimed to be "gamechangers" and not all films are the first film from a director since the at the time most successful film of all-time, Titanic.

Fogster. Billions of people DID like it. But billions of people eat dorritos. Doesnt mean Dorritos are a quality food, just means people like 'em.

There isn't a real purpose? Are you kidding? I like the film but squid pointed out numerous reasons why people don't like the film, all of which are valid.

Yea I have to agree, not a bad film at all, but Zodiac imo is def the better of the two. Robin Williams id do a great job as well. He played a great sick twisted role also in One Hour Photo. He was just weird and creepy. That was a really good film also.

Just something to think about.

In regards to the McDonald's thing, of course its bad for you, anything good is bad, but people still like it because its tasty and convenient and cheap, its hard to make that triangle. Usually one is lacking. You might not like Mcdonald's but you have to respect their way of business, get my point?
None of his reasons were "looking deeply" into a movie. They were all pretty obvious. It's not like he's searching for criticisms to an undeniable great film like The Godfather.

This argument will not result in anyone changing their mind. Sadly.
I will never change my mind that Avatar was a real masterpiece of filmmaking on every level (including good storyline above all), as will not my family, as well as millions of other people around the world.

ok now you are kinda lost man, imma take the time to reply to each thing you just mentioned buddy k

1.Why do sh!tty quality jeans sell for $ 125.00 and really well made ones sell for $30.00? Are you sure they are shitty??? Some might be or some could be handmade, or made with a different type of material!

2. Why do people pay $thousands of dollars for shiney little rocks for their fingers when the supply fills wharehouses the size of the Rosebowl? Well my man its called RARITY, they control the amount to keep it rare. Some people would consider you not being intelligent for buying packaged media when you can just download the same thing?? Get the pic?

3. Why do people buy $10,000.00 watches to perform the same task as a $40.00watch? This statement was aweful i would bet my life that a 10,000 watch would not only LAST LONGER but outperform a 40 watch in a heart beat! When i say outperform i mean, it has every option a watch could have.

4. Why do some perfumes and colognes sell for $300.00 an ounce
Wow this one was easy, you go buy a bottle of Axe and ill go buy a bottle of black polo, and see who smells the same after 1 hour of wear.

5. Why does Red bull cost 5 times as much as a Pepsi?
Have you even drank red bull before, its a energy drink, on a whole different level, and to include its used hardcore with liqour, you cant even compare the two. One is a soft beverage and the other is a enegry drink?

The Point is you're trying to compare cheap Sh1t with Quality items, since you talking like this i would only imagine that you have the cheapest of HT equipment since youre theory is people send extra money on things that arent really worth it.

[Show spoiler]I ONLY ARGUE WHEN IM RIGHT, WISE MAN HERE!

I won't debate the twist or the quality of the film, because you are certainly entitled to either liking it or disliking it. But are you kidding about the Hollywood thing??? The Illusionist had a much smaller budget and was a much smaller tale relying on the nuances of writing, directing, and cinematography. The Prestige had a top shelf cast, a big name director and cinematographer, and followed many Hollywood conventions. I really don't know how to argue this one because I haven't come across someone who's disagreed!

squids arguments, unlike jade's, are very legitimate regarding this film. I don't agree with him, of course, but he does have a point. Glad you liked it bud.
