I was able to pick up all 3 last year new for less than the price of a pair of Monitor 11's. The U.S. prices now are close to what Canadian prices were last year but I think you should be able to do much better than 2k. Paying cash is always a good thing.. |

You are right, going from the 60's to 100's is going to cost at least $1000 at this point and you won't notice $1000 difference. If he takes his time and searchs the money will be better spent. If you feel like you just have to buy something right now( I know how this feels) upgrade your surrounds.

Thanks man Piano Black would look sweet!! But the Rosenut actually does blend nicely with your Basement. This forum can do that to you... seeing everyone's setup change constantly but I think I did pretty good this past year and am still very happy with it all. Quote:
If I do get Sigs it would also be Piano Black - S6's or even S2's with an Anthem I225 Integrated Amplifier but I'll wait til I have a proper room for 2 ch listening. The Sigs do sound Very Smooth with some 2 ch and probably even better with hi res multi-channel music but for HT it's alot to pay extra over what the Studios are already very good at!! Alright so I did some demoing today.
found a pair of Studio 60 v4. Store demo wants 1350$...one busted tweeter (they will replace) and pretty scratched up feet. They'd replace half of them I'd get dinged with the other 20$ bill. The 60s sound beautiful they honestly do but the price doesn't seem so hot to me for demo and being over a year old. they really wouldn't budge. At 1200$ I might have jumped on them. 1350 seems like I'm overpaying Compared them to the v5 and I can't honestly hear a 1k difference. 60v5 at that particular place being 2499+tx Headed on over to another dealer. They made me audition some totem ... damn I forget if they were the dreamcatchers or rainmakers...anyway bookshelf 1200$ pair. They sounded beautiful at low volume with jazz. In 5.1 they didn't have the bite that I like to their sound. They quoted me a really good price on the 20 v5 so if and when I sell my gear I'm going with the 20 v5. They want 1600-1700+tx for the 60v5 but well out of my price range. i'll keep you posted on what happens. My heart is telling me buy NEW 20v5...let whatever bass the 60s can produce be handled by my two little over a month old SVS subs. |

Yes... They have a 1 yr warranty and are very reputable. I am thinking of a refurb Marantz from the same site if for some reason I cannot get the Anthem receiver.

How did the mid-range compare between the 2 speakers? You should also check out the Dynaudio Focus 110s or the Excite X16s.... their mid-range is just rediculous... esp on the Focus. |

I'm thinking of selling my 7.1 Studio v5 setup and just wondering what the asking price should be. The speakers are between 1yr and 2 months in age. I'm just looking for some opinions on what it's worth, I have an idea of what I want but that does always translate into what it will sell for. The system is as folllows Studio 100 v5, cc690 v5, adp 590 v5, Studio 20 v5 with j29 stands and Sub 15 with the Perfect Bass Kit. I would also like to include my Pioneer Elite SC-07. I would prefer to sell it as a package but would part it out for the right price, all the speakers are rosenut finish and are in mint condition. The Paradigms sound great but I'm thinking of going with something else, but that all depends on how much I can get for this system. I think I would like to try a Seaton Sound system next.

Yeah I think $1350 is too much for a demo pair with Damage. Some sell here(Canada) lately for much less in like new or even mint condition. The Totems are nice speakers but not for everyone but each model is supposed have a different sound from each other. I don't listen to much jazz or classical music which is from I know what the Totems do really well with.. also acoustic and vocals but that's also an area the Studio do very good at. Totems are known to be pretty laid back which is probably why you felt you didn't get that "bite" like the Paradigms give. The Tribes though are great HT speakers especially for on-walls. They were only powered with 60wpc from a NAD receiver and they sounded BIG! With your dual subs now I think the 20's would do fine then if you want you can always move them back if you want bigger fronts and can do 7.2. |

True I probably shouldn't judge them for HT since I never actually even heard a full setup. Any place I've visited only had them setup as 2 ch rigs. I've never even seen the C5's but from the pictures they look CRAZY! I have heard the S6's(v2's and v3's) a few times and I love how they sound! Still I'm pretty happy with my HT setup and can't think of spending that much for a full setup right now.. I'm 30 and got 4 kids my wife would not be happy ![]() |
