haha nah, ppl's collections are off-limits. There are way too many reasons why someone owns a particular film.

Absolutely incredible film. I rank it as one of the top 3 of the 2000s, along with The Lives of Others and another film, I'd have to think about.

I rate Bruno Ganz's performance as the best in film history, with Brando in On the Waterfront second.

And yes, that scene is heartwrenching for sure.

yeah, but I only bought that coz I had a crush on this chick who was a member of the "Twilight cult". She confessed she watched the film 100 times. She came over. I put on the blu (sick PQ), and goes "OMG, I never knew the forrest was this clear!!! OMG Look at RObert!!!!"

You had a crush on a Twilight fan?

j/k..
I mean, honestly if I was single I'd literally stay away from chicks like that, but that's just me, call me crazy!

Also look forward to your thoughts about The Box Surf, Squid has it in his queue and I think jhiggy as well, hope you guys like it, as I've said it's likely a hate it or love it movie.

As perfectly evidenced by Surf's reply below this

There are actually some around this site that stoop to bashing others based on their collections (and they are serious, not just making a joke like I was), which is just sad.

Def in my queue but I won't get to it for a bit just because of the Criterion sale, I have a few to watch and I promised to see Before Sunrise/Sunset first. But I promise I'll get to it!

I live with a 23 year old girl and her and all her friends went at midnite. I was embarassed....jk.

Yeah, I know I'm a bit harsh at times but collections are off limits for me. What if the person received a film as a gift from a family member or watches the film with his son, etc etc. It's low to use that against someone.

Yeah I think we both have great taste in films!

And yeah I won't bash anything and say it's crap just because it wasn't quite my cup of tea. I'll pay respect where it's due as well as give reasons why I don't care for it.

Haha yeah that's a good one. I used that on my friends who raved about it being the best movie they've ever seen.

Both Transformers are awesome movies and are lots of fun, but they're just not very good.

The Life Before Her Eyes - 5/10

The Evan Rachel Wood scenes: poignant, well-acted coming-of-age drama. The youthful dialogue and situations ring true, and Wood delivers a charismatic, down-to-earth, melancholy performance.

The Uma Thurman scenes: overwrought, shallow psychological thriller. Not for one second convincing. Thurman, a talented actress, tries her best and nails a few scenes, but not even Meryl Streep could navigate this swamp of heavy-handed symbolism and doom-and-gloom theatrics.

I wish this had just been an honest, simple coming-of-age/high school story (and, by extension, a showcase for Evan Rachel Wood). By including the Thurman half of the 90 minute running time, it becomes far too complicated, "cute," and far-reaching, and yet much less satisfying. The flesh-and-blood humanity is lost amidst the myriad aren't-we-clever? contrivances.

Percy Jackson

I'm not sure why so many people didn't like it. I thought it was a lot of fun, and a good movie all around. The special effects were good, as was the cast. It was also nicely paced, and never out stayed its welcome. Definitely a lot of fun.

I've been waiting to check this out.

My friend said he loved it....so I figure he'll buy it and I'll save myself the $5-$8 it would be to rent
