I'm going to get this not seen it for years, it was on a VHS video tape years ago when I last watched it, So hopefully the Blu release will be a big improvement.

I think I still have the VHS somewhere, (of the one or two I still have) and unbelievably, I got it as a gift from a girl (says something about her maybe?). "Duel" Format does make me chuckle though.

I see the MPAA wants 110 cuts made to the 2010 version to avoid NC-17
so ABE are releasing unrated.
I gather that means the UK version of the 2010 release will be butchered by the BBFC

2 minutes and 54 seconds of compulsory cuts will be applied to this Blu-ray release. However, over four minutes of previous cuts have been waived. I'm unsure of whether or not to buy it.

cuts that no for me I stick with my uncut R1 dvd so.
this pretty much guarantees the remake being cut.
with any luck the US will get a region free unrated version.

Unlike some posters at blu-ray.com, I actually like and respect this low budget film. But I will only buy it uncut.

edit: btw imdb vote statistics show something fairly interesting (last time I looked anyway). Women rate this film higher than men.

You currently own the 'DOA: Dead Or Alive' film so surely anything is possible.

This is a real bummer... I know the BBFC are pretty strikt when it comes to rape in movies, so it's no big surprise though. But still a bummer.

As for the 110(!!!!!!!) cuts the MPAA wanted for the R-rated 2010 re-make... Sounds awesome! Looking forward to the UNRATED version for sure.

It doesn't say the film is uncut, it says that it features "uncut" material previously not seen in the UK. My understanding from the BBFC web site is that this is less cut than ever before in the UK.

The problem with countries being forced to cut things out of movies is that now I want to go rent the uncut version just to see it. I previously had zero desire to see this at all, and I have every inclination that I will either hate it or it will just be a bad film (or both), yet I have to satisfy my curiosity.

Well, it IS bad! If you expect anything else you'll hate this more than anything you have ever hated... hehe.

Low budget (s)exploitation flick that has gathered a cult following and a steady goer on the "notorious" videonasty list for many, many years.

A girl is raped and raped and raped... And then raped again. Then she takes revenge. Bloody, nasty and vile revenge. So, if you like Craven's original Last House on the Left you're in for a treat.

True, but it does claim 'The Original & Most Comprehensive Version', which Im sure people would assume 'Original' as in 'Uncut US Theatrical'.

how do you understand the spefs on amazon.co.uk ? :

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003LXA5R6

Disc 1 (Blu-ray):
Feature Film - new cut
Audio commentary by Director Meir Zarchi & Film Critic Joe Bob Briggs

"new cut" : new cut : real new cut, so, new editing...

or because the UK version has always been cut so far, releasing the original uncut version (as avalaible in the US) makes it premiere to the UK, so it becomes a "new cut" here...?
(it's a bit like the "unrated cut" of some US movies which are in fact not a new cut but the theatrical cut we saw in Europe...)
