It could seriously be the worst game, and Ill still play it because I'm just a dedicated SOCOM player with my buddies going as far back as SOCOM1. Can't Wait.

They are making this to keeps the fans happy while Zipper is working on SOCOM4 single, and online. This is made by Red Slant, and is going to go back toward the socom2 style online play. Can't Wait.

Never played any of them.

I'll check it out as long as it's not garbage. I guess it was delayed, because it wasn't meeting expectations.

Actually it's being made by Slant Six. With guidance from Seth Luisi...

But as for going back to it's roots, and best damn game play of them all Socom I & II, don't bet on it.

The radar will show enemies, it's over the shoulder(think Gears of War) and 32 player matches. Sorry, but that doesn't sound like Socom I or II, to me. More like Socom:Combined Crapola/GRAW clone.

The only real old school Socom in Confrontation, is the map Crossroads...but even that will be expanded for 32 players.

Actually, the radar is not like you are describing. Also, the over the shoulder view is "new" to the SOCOM series, but it will also have a Classic View (third person). The 32 player matches are if you want them, it will open up parts of the maps never seen in SOCOM 1 or 2, if you want traditional play then you can play it that way also with the smaller maps.

The radar is actually worse than I described. If one person spots you, you will show up on their radar and every other enemies alive team member's radar. There is now, according to Slant Six, an option to turn it off. After the Socomers(me included) told them radar's for no skill Socom noobs.

OTS is NOT Socom. Classic IS Socom and was only added after Slant Six showed a short video clip of Confrontation at E3...and were promptly torn to shreds about it on the official Socom forums about OTS.

As for the 32 players, again, nothing "classic" or "back to it's roots" about that. 32 players didn't help Socom:3/CA, and the nightly numbers prove it.

And here's a thread you should read.

Hey everyone! I am one of the developers at Slant Six Games working on SOCOM Confrontation, and I will be posting on this forum from time to time. The dev team is working very hard to recreate the classic SOCOM experience that everyone knows and loves while at the same time evolving and updating it for the PlayStation 3. We know you have a lot of questions regarding SOCOM Confrontation, and I am here to provide answers where I can. Today I am going to address three consistent concerns I have seen expressed in your posts in the weeks since the first videos of Confrontation were released.

Over the Shoulder Camera View

We are very happy with the way the OTS camera view looks and feels in game. However, we know that many of the community members are apprehensive about this new camera mode. Both Fire Team Bravo and Fire Team Bravo 2 use the OTS camera, and it works great. I encourage all of you to give it a go if you have not already. Nevertheless, rest assured that Confrontation includes the classic camera mode as an option.

Red Dots on the Radar

This is another mechanic that many people feel very strongly about so I’d like to explain the current design. Because this feature is still being honed, I am only going to concentrate on what everyone has seen at this point. Currently, when a player targets an opponent and his crosshairs turn red, a red dot may appear on a teammate’s radar depending on player proximity. The radar only provides info that teammates would otherwise communicate to their allies through speech or callout IF they were playing as a team. Some of the benefits of the red dots include helping teammate’s spot campers, reducing frustration of playing with teammates who never communicate and helping to track down opponents in no re-spawn game modes.

The Gun Spray

We are still very early in the tuning of all the weapons but are very conscious about weapon balance and feel. Currently a player’s first shot or two will be deadly accurate, the longer the trigger is held down the more inaccuracy the weapon will become (which is what you were seeing in the videos). Weapon accuracy is affected by stance, so that a player will be much less accurate while running and firing compared to a player who is standing still to target or better yet crouching or prone. Weapon tuning is extremely important and is an element of Confrontation’s production that is in constant iteration. The weapons will continue to be tweaked and tuned until we are confident with their balance and feel.

We appreciate all of your support, and take your feedback very seriously. I am a full-time member of Confrontation’s development team, so unlike a dedicated community manager I will not be able to respond to all of your questions and posts, but we do read everything on this board. It’s probably best to avoid PM’s altogether because of my limited time, and because any information that I share is intended for the whole SOCOM community.

From what I've seen of the screenshots, it looks very impressive. Even moreso that COD4 in my opinion. Too bad there is no gameplay videos available (that I've seen) yet.

I'm excited for the online play. I've gotten more hours out of Warhawk than I have 90% of the single player games I've owned, hoping to do the same with SOCOM.

From what I have heard they are working on getting the game "up-to-date" with all that they promised.. I am big Socom guy as well, and I love COD4 also, but hate the lobby system.. hard to believe Socom 1 got so much right with the lobby system it seems no other game has yet to match...

Yeah, I hope the don't mess up the lobby system. It made finding/hosting a game really easy.

BINGO! COD4 has had so many issues with the dreaded......."Host ended game" also! I love Socom lobby system. How hard is it to duplicate? As much as everyone talks about it being so user friendly you think the software makers would make it similiar. Its great looking for what you want and just diving right in. I dont like that computers are controling what they think I want and putting me into what they (computers) deem fit!

Here is everything posted from Seal Team 6 He is a Slant Six Dev. Though, as you can see he has not posted in quite some time. Which is leading to wild speculation on the Socom forum.

Release date and/or new pics or vids are not under Slant Six's control, they are SCEA's to release when they want to do so.
