It's on the back of the blu-case. Not the spine.

My copy, which I haven't viewed yet DOES NOT have the 2 disc set printed on either the slip cover or the case itself. Also, I do have the $10 off sticker on the cover which again is an old offer that expired 6/30. The Blu-ray logo on the side spine slip cover and case is BLUE. The embossed Blu-ray logo on the top of the case itself is GREY. I had read something about it possibly being GREY??? The UPC code is white like the original version and I think there was some mix up on that info as to whether it should be yellow like the SPR re-issue. So, I believe I have the right version. I held off buying the original when it came out, so I can't compare. I will certainly watch this when I get home from work.
Dude, how many indicators do you need? You people are so anal that you want to keep finding MORE things to tell the two verisons apart? The new edition doesn't say 2-Disc Set. That's ENOUGH! Plus the number below the logo is different. You people start a witch hunt by bringing up things like a slipcover, a gray logo, etc, when none of that even matters.

Sorry, but don't look at me. If the studio actually did something right like print REMASTERED version on the cover instead of trying to hide the fact, we wouldn't be in this mess, let alone a bad original transfer to begin with. So if you've got issues, if you need to point fingers, you need to take them elsewhere. The studio is to blame........PERIOD!

I just watched the first 10 minutes or so, but it looks awesome. The biggest thing I noticed when switching between the two versions is that, on the old one, the entire sky is a random mess of oversharpened grain and DNR artifacts. During the long sweeping shots where arrows are flying through the air, the sky just looks like someone went to town with the blur and auto-correct Photoshop tools (obviously not what happened, but visual comparison for frame of reference) and you really can't make anything out. On the new disc, you can clearly see individual arrows flying through the air, see clouds of smoke rising off flames in the background, see the fireballs going by, etc.

They didn't print REMASTERED because they probably still want to move their old stock. I will point fingers since it's been CONFIRMED that the difference is the "2-Disc Set" tag on the back. But for some reason you need 10 other indicators as well? Why not stop looking for more faults and go buy the movie instead of continuing to complain?

because it hasn't been "confirmed". bill hunts @digital bits review copy didn't happen to have the "2-disc set" writing on the back. so we can assume that that is it but we can't be sure. especially since the studio said the upc would/will be yellow instead of white. whos to say that it isnt a subtle change in packaging and some of the non remastered also don't have the "2-disc set" on the back.

little package changes happens before, for example reservoir dogs blu some of the spines are red, some are silver. no reason to change it, i mean its the same disc in both.

whos to say they didnt make a simialr package change for some reason or another and some are getting remastered versions that just so happen to not have the 2-disc set writing on the back?

I have the original release, not remastered, and the serial on the back is:

11111016515

People should reference the absence of "two disc set" when looking for the remastered version.

I bought my copy on release week last year, yet mine has the 'new' serial number. This is on the case itself, not the slipcover

I'm not trying to p!$$ anyone off, I just wanted to report that the serial seems irrelevant.

Their old stock should be REMOVED.......PERIOD. If it's not going to be removed, there should be clear indicators like "REMASTERED" printed on the new one. Anything less is bonehead at the very least.

Tried two Best Buy stores in No. Va today and neither one had a copy of the remastered version. Guess I will wait a while and try again.

Okay, so the case under the slipcover doesn't say "2 disc set" on the corrected release? No yellow UPC sticker like Saving Private Ryan?

Also, disc 1 is a dark gray color. The old disc 1 is a lighter gray/silver. This info from someone who has the disc from DVD Talk.

Because the packaging is the most expensive part of the disc. they don't just make 10 different kinds of packaging for fun. And it IS confirmed, by me for one.

It's so funny that people complain then the original comes out... then the studio actually listens and remasters the title. Then people complain wanting an exchange program, which the studio THEN offers (even though they do not have to, because there was technically not a defect with the orignal disc a la Private Ryan)... And people still *****.

With bad attitudes like this, I doesn't surprise me if studios really stop caring about the consumer, because no matter what they do, there are always people who are ungrateful.

Best Buy and FutureShop? You're in Canada, right? Is the slip bilingual and so has had the layout changed?

Damn, those NA numbers are hard to read! Anyway sending my disc in tomorrow to the address noted in posts #4141 and #4142. The agent I talked to gave the same information posted in those two posts. Thanks Steve_Dave and SquidPuppet!

I went and picked up the remastered version today from Best Buy. They had 4 copies, and all of them were missing the "2-DISC SET" above the Paramount logo on the slipcover and on the keepcase. In case anyone is curious about Fry's, they had 4 copies of the remastered version as well ans none of the original.

I had been asking before about a way to tell the actual discs themselves apart from the old version to the remastered version. Upon opening up the package, I was able to tell two differences between the discs:

1. The color of the discs are basically the same color (gray), but the texture has been changed. The original disc has a grainy and rough texture to the actual disc art (exactly the same as Braveheart). The new remastered disc actually has a very smooth and flat texture.

2. The numbers on the ring of the disc are different. The old disc has the number: NA13081B1R1. The remastered disc has the number: NA13081B1R2

I'm sure this is why they have been asking for this number over the phone to ensure the disc you have says NA13081B1R1 and are in need of a replacement. I hope that's helps some with distinguishing the discs themselves.
