I can't find my receipt anywhere, but I'm 99% sure it would show up on my reward zone history and I'd much rather exchange in store than through the mail.
I bought the original the day it was released last year w/braveheart (sept, i think?)

I didn't have my receipt, but they were able to pull it up and print out a new one by tracking it through my reward zone...

the lady didn't seem to know what i was talking about but i just told here i was here to EXCHANGE my opened copy for the new one due to quality issues and a "recall" (lol) by universal and then i showed her how the "2-disc" labeling was different and thats how one could tell there was a difference in editions. worked like a charm. good luck!

Crap, I just mailed my disc out under the assumption that you had more proof or a more recent original purchase than I. Thanks very much for the update, though, as I'm sure many others will benefit from it.

I have a HUGE backlog of unwatched movies in my library so it's not like I was going to watch it within the next month anyway.

I exchanged my unopened original (that I bought last Thanksgiving from Amazon for $10) at Best Buy last night. No issues or questions. Said it was defective, didn't have a receipt, and I just wanted an exchange. They couldn't have been nicer about it.

Strangely, all the re-mastered copies they had on hand had the old slip cover over them featuring the $10 DVD rebate offer that had obviously expired before the re-mastered versions hit store shelves.

Watched it last night and it looks awesome.

I think Fox, LionsGate, and Disney are about the only studios left who are using the security tape. So if you see copies of Gladiator without it, there's probably a good chance it's remastered since it'll be fresh stock. But definitely go by the 2-disc label to be sure.

I haven't been following this thread a whole lot so I'm not sure if this has been asked, but has anyone tried ordering from Amazon lately?

I submitted my email to paramount about two weeks ago and I haven't received anything back yet.

Should I worry?

You should just call the 800#. The sooner you do, the sooner you'll get a nice new disc

Watched the Remastered version and I think this will be the best "Gladiator" will ever look, far superior to the first release.

I picked up a cop of the new gladiator remastered edition at best buy. It was without the "2 disc set" at the bottom right corner on the back cover and it did not have the security tapes on top or bottom. The mirror code in the back of the disc is NA13081B1R2. Notice that it now says R2 instead of R1 on the original disc. Hope this helps.

Sorry, I don't really have time to search this thread for the answer. But, what's the deal with the exchange program? I am going to be heading into town tomorrow and was going to swing by a Best Buy if I had time (which is seemingly absent these days).

The exchange is going on through Paramount. I don't think you can exchange at a store.

Call 888-889-9456 to get the information.

I''m pretty sure this has been answered somewhere on here but, are the UPC numbers the same? The reason I ask is because I never open my "error laced" copy of Gladiator.

Went with a co-worked to BB an hour ago since he was going and checked out their discs on the shelf. They had copies with the slipcover saying 2-disc set and some without the 2-disc set but the cover artwork said 2-disc set w/ the new slipcovers. Then there were 3 copies with no 2-disc set on either cover or slipcase. I talked him into buying it saying it was the remastered and sure enough, disc 1 inside does have the new R2 on the label on the bottom and is the same color disc as the old copy. The back cover numbers 11111016517 on the slip case and 11111016515 on the cover are still the same under the paramount logo. UPC's also appear to be identical. And one last thing that I am not sure is a good tell tale sign or not is the newer remastered copies didnt have the white security sticker on the top of the blu case, it had no security stickers at all. All the newer copies also have the $10 rebate coupon on the slipcover and inside which is already expired. I am borrowing his copy for the evening to check it out.

I guess that while all of the remastered versions are missing "2-disc set," some of the old version also seem to be missing those words. It's not a reliable indicator that you have the remastered version.

Can someone please help those of that are apparantly blind? is this number found on the part of the disc inside the BVDL rings or outside of them? I have the NA13091B1 number on the BVDL rings but not R anything after it. So I am assuming it's not that.

Right now I think it's located somewhere near the G spot as far as I can tell

Thanks

i am gonna back this statement up, because i went into walmart today to see if they had any new gladiators, and i picked up the same lone copy that was there literally the DAY they announced they were gonna release the disc with the new transfer, it was a bit beat up and it also didn't have 2-disc set on it, or protective tape...but there was no way that was the new version unless they had already shipped out the discs before they announced it. so anyways i left it there and went to best buy and they had 2 copies with those indicators (of which i got one) and one old version with the 2-disc printed and security tape. i still haven't check the one i got but it seems to me that on top of those 2 indicators the most sure thing to go for is to see if slipcover and stuff are very fresh/pristine and new. i am fairly sure those were the new shipment at best buy cuz i went there shortly after they announced the new transfer and there was only that 1 copy. but yea not much blu action goin on in my town obviously hah

I guess all four remastered copies had the yellow UPC code right?

That's what Paramount did for the fixed Saving Private Ryan and that's what's been done here. That makes it easy to separate from old and new copies.
