LOL, did you see my review on The Seventh Seal? Did you enjoy this film?

Well i dont know how to put this but it has the same directing style as Man on Fire with a HORRIBLE story line. Since im a win win type of guy you can put this movie on and just watch it for the heck of it and it will be a little entertaining. But besides that this movie is pretty horrible. Im glad i paid 8 bucks for it because i probably wont ever watch it again. FOR FANS ONLY

Law Abiding Citizen

I thought it was a pretty damn good movie. Cool to see Gerald Butler still killing people but in a different way. Jamie Foxx is defintely not my favorite actor but he did a nice job as well.

And that is a shame too as it could have been a really good movie. I was expecting a pretty kick ass movie and was pretty disappointed.

I agree with you. I think it's an interesting true-life story but was ruined by its pointless direction. Tony Scott is not a good director and ruins his films. The Fan was terrible, so not really his fault. The Last Boy Scout wasn't very good. Man on Fire, while good, would've been better without his direction. True Romance is overrated. Deja Vu is too clever for its own good (note: the $5 million that was paid for the spec script was at the time [and might still be] the highest ever paid for a spec script). Beverly Hills Cop II was the worst of the series. Days of Heaven and Top Gun I enjoy, so no complaints there. Granted he didn't try his ill-advised direction in those two films.

I respect Seventh Seal because of its importance and how iconic it is, but I don't like the film. I gave it either 2 1/2 or 3 stars (out of 4), I think.

I don't like you anymore because you have Amelie and I don't. A film that quite literally warms the heart. Band of Brothers is arguably the single most definitive must-own on blu-ray. Unbelievable to say the least.

Tell No One (third or fourth viewing) (blu)

I've always rated it four stars (out of 4), and I have no reason to change that rating now. It's undoubtedly one of the best thrillers ever made.

The one rating I change is PQ. I always gave the film 4.5 (out of 5), but have always been tempted to give it a 5. This time I finally have given in--the PQ is absolutely incredible. The clarity is oftentimes unreal. Take the last scene of the movie, for instance. Wow, in a word.

By the way, NPR did a huge poll recently of the top 100 thriller books of all-time. Tell No One, by the immensely popular American author Harlan Coben, came in at number 49. (side note: I noticed for the first time tonite that he makes a cameo in the film.) Tell No One is a very good book, but it's not Coben's best. The Woods is one of the best thrillers I have ever come across--it is absolutely incredible and would make an excellent film. Hold Tight is also top notch. Note that The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo comes in at number 2, and that all three books make the top 30. That's incredible. Silence of the Lambs was number 1, but it's been out for more than 20 years and had an Oscar winning film. The fact that Larsson's books are rated so highly after only a few years is an unbelievable feat. In a few years, there's no doubt Tattoo will be number 1.

It's not really just the direction I had problems with in Domino. It had potential, but it was lacking in pretty much everything but the acting. Some didn't think Keira Knightley was right for the part, but I think she could have pulled it off if the material was better. Oh well.

As far as some of Tony Scott's other work, I did like Top Gun and Days of Thunder (Heaven? WTF? ). Enemy of the State I think was one of his best, which is the only one I own. I enjoyed Man on Fire and thought Deja Vu and The Last Boy Scout were alright, but I can't really comment on the rest.

I haven't been on alot, but I guess I'll put up a movie review (ported from facebook). Into the Wild

[Show spoiler]Into the Wild: 2.5 out of 4

If there is a choice of the person, it's very easy to question his tenacity, where that choice would be something most would not accept. Take Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch); a college graduate who is bored of his life, in fact very unstable, along with a family that seems stable, but is actually have dark problems themselves, that he intends to go off to Alaska to live in the wild, with no help from the outside world. The problem he has is that he needs that help in order to survive. His venture through South Dakota and Colorado, to Mexico and California, to the Northwest Canada and then Alaska where he takes shelter in an abandoned bus. Along the way he meets people that share similar problems but not exactly similar sentiments, he meets new friends during his trip, meets the unfortunate side of others, but his desire is to not face the world of man, and instead into the wild, where he died there (not a spoiler; it's a biopic).

The film is a feast of the sense, showcasing the vistas of South Western America and the wilderness of Alaska, that alone is worth the price of admission, especially a treat with a great print of the film or a high definition copy, along with some well developed secondary character arcs to give characters care to them. Christopher however is very difficult to care about, and sentimentalizes his pretentious and child-like actions; which turns it into an overlong, adrenaline fantasy, well done however. A Great cameo by Hal Holbrook, and Kai Shelton works as a Special effects coordinator. Remember when you go out of your way to get out, you might not want to face nature alone.

Geez, I guess I was thinking of quality film

I agree--Knightley was right for the part. I also agree that Enemy of the State was probably his best.
