I may yet test it against my recording DVD player, which can use HDMI but I've only one port for HDMI, so I'd probly just use component for the DVD again.

My old PS2 served as primary DVD player for a long time until about 2 years ago. I figured using it in my test would show how much better my home theater has gotten since 2001.

It is my understanding and experience that the PS3 is a better Blu-ray player than the PS2 was a DVD player.
