I thought you were leaving? I guess you're just hear to cause trouble. Why don't you take 7 days to figure out where you stand on this issue and come back if you're here to learn about Blu-ray.

I figured it out, for some reason my Onkyo has to be set at 1080i (max for my set) to allow the signal to go through. Before I had the Onkyo set to pass through untouched and set the BD30 to 1080i- it did not like that. Now I set the BD30 to output 1080p and have the Onkyo turn it to 1080i- works nice. The only problem now is that I am going to have to buy EVERY disk that has DTS-MA because it SOUNDS SO FREAKIN AWESOME!!! Jason |

I agree with Slapper. I don't know of any current Sharp Aquos model that can accept 1080p24 input. Some models can properly de-interlace and inverse telecine a 1080i60 signal back to 1080p24.

These do also:
Sony KDS-Z70XBR5 (1080P/24 correctly refreshed at 120HZ when Motion Enhancer is turned off) Sony KDS-Z60XBR5 (1080P/24 correctly refreshed at 120HZ when Motion Enhancer is turned off) Here is a list that is current as of early November for HDTVs that support true 1080p/24: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ght=1080p%2F24 I was referring strictly to LCD HDTVs in my previous post, like the Aquos line. Only the Sony XBR4 and XBR5 LCD HDTVs have been confirmed to handle 1080p/24 correctly. Hopefully, 1080p/24 becomes a "standard" across all types of HDTVs sooner rather than later. ![]() Oh well, I found a dime on the sidewalk, so just a nickel from being back to even. ![]() I'm very impressed with the Panasonic BD-30. Very nice looking unit, very easy setup, fairly fast disc loading. Excellent PQ; I would say a little better than the PS3, but I don't want to start a war so I won't say it. And my display is only 1080i (57" Sony rear projection CRT), so that may have something to do with it. And the audio alone was worth the upgrade from a PS3. I have the Onkyo 605 receiver, so setting the BD-30 to bitstream output I'm finally able to hear the DTS MA on the Fox titles in full resolution, and it's a very nice improvement. Two thumbs up for the Panasonic BD-30. ![]() |

I went to Best Buy last night looking for one of these, but no luck. The guy working in Magnolia said that they have 3 units in transit and took my name so he could call me when they show up. Hopefully it will work out
![]() Has anybody noticed a difference between this player and the PS3 in terms of upscaling dvd's? Since I saw the posts that PQ was better, I'm hoping that this is improved also. I don't think that the PS3 does as good of a job with upcaling as it could. My old sony upconverting 5-disc seems like it's better, but I only have that connected to my plasma. The PS3 is connected to a pj so I can't say for sure. |

OK, just picked one up today. I got it at a great price $374.99 (don't ask it's a crazy story).
I hooked it up to my Panasonic TH-58PZ700U (1080P plasma) and I never thought that POTC would look any better untill today. The pic with this unit is better than my Sony BDP-S300, Panasonic DMP-BD10A and my PS3. The upconverting of SD DVD's is also better with this unit. BD just seems to get better everyday. Go Blu!! ![]() One more thing I should add here. I put in POTC 2 and timed it to read and play.................................38 seconds. Great job Panasonic! ha ha friends in the right places. Lets just say that that price is just a little above what a local B&M store pays for it. I also got 3 Panasonic DMP-BD10A's the other day for $150 each. I could not pass it up. It's who you know not what you know!

Shop around though, because I only paid $3300 for my 58" panny when the going price was $5000. I'm very pleased with the mix between the panny plasma and the panny BD30 player. When I hooked up the 30 today I was very happy to see an improvement over the DMP-BD10A. I plan on trying to replace the 58" next year with another plasma in the 70" range. I never thought I would stop buying Sony TV's. Enjoy whatever you get. |
