PS3 Outsells Wii In Japan

There were rumours and Rumblings, that nintendo would have to start work on a Wii 2 very soon, because this console will soon have everybody bored of it, just lke the gamecube. Analysts agreed, and so maybe they're already trying.

I'm sure this boost of sales is mostly due to the new white ps3 launched in japan. They go crazy over new colorways over there!

This is Japan though, they literally hate the 360 and it's games and it will always have low sales.. The Wii is selling lots of Hardware but with SMG poor sales it's starting to look pretty bad for the Wii. Low SMG sales paint a very big picture, people are buying the Wii because it was so cheap and for games like Wiiplay/sports. Handhelds are taking over in Japan, while consoles have taken the backseat for a while now.

and the ol stand by PS2 is even outselling the 360.

2nd week in a row actually. They love GT5 and even the Prologues do pretty well over there, so in 3 weeks time that gap should look even bigger. The fact that it's outselling the Wii at a much higher cost and without very many AA games just goes to show that it's on it's way up and just a matter of software titles hitting the market.

In all fairness, the Wii has even less AA games than the PS3. Atleast the ps3 has some top-quality multiplatform games in addition to exclusives. The Wii only has a few good exclusives going for it. Believe me i own one.

How poor are SMG sales? I thought that was THE Wii game for christmas?

3rd week in and it's already in 6th place on the chart with only 365k total.

It seems like the Japanese only like party/casual style games for the Wii. SMG is doing much better in NA though.

Even still with the Wii hardware install base being as high as it is, SMG should have sold at least 400k on the first day but it looks like it has already lost it's legs. It just proves that casuals are buying this thing more than hardcore gamers.

I think the PS3 will do just fine. I just got my PS3 after selling my 3rd 360.
Put it this way, 360 sold only 6 million consoles its first year. PS3 sold a little over 5 million in its first year. People dont realize the 360 had no competition
its first year and the PS3 had both the 360 and the wii competing against it.
The 360 has been out 2 years now and has already had their exclusives Halo3
which I beat in 6 and a half hours. The wii has Mario Galaxy which I do want to try. The PS3 hasnt had all their games like Metal gear 4, Killzone 2 and more. Just wait till GTA IV comes out, PS3 will rise on top of the console wars.
