A lot of PS3's being sold, thus a lot of new BD owners...not to mention the number of existing Blu people.
I hope so...

How come Dave Vaughn hasn't leaked them early this time? Running out of negative spin?

If the 66-34 numbers hold up, then it is a great week for blu-ray. The fact that Shrek 3 sold so many DVDs to already be in the top ten for the year (in it's first week), indicates the lack of support from HD DVD owners. In addition, selling 1/2 the amount that Ratatouille Blu-ray sold is very telling.

Selling 1/2 amount of ratatouille is terrible. I was predicting 2/3 of ratatouille, based of how long both films were in cinema in Jakarta

It is not a great week for blu ray if those numbers hold.
The Shrek hd sold like crap, and did not sell close to as many as Rat did it's first week.
We had 12.99 sales, bogo sales, and amazon sales.
Hd had nothing yet they still gained a point.
Yes I know...one point but it makes you wonder what it would have been if hd had a sale or two on movies going on at the time too.

Paramount was running a $19.99 sale, on both sides of the border. There were a number of DUD titles for sale.

I have no idea what you are writting about. Shrek 3 was the third largest film of the year in terms of domestic gross. Selling 1/2 of what Ratatouille sold, and losing the week 66-34 it is embarrasing for HD DVD owners.

Seems 2:1 is locked in. It just keeps being repeated at all sorts of scales.

Clearly, those 70K-100K new A2 owners didn't rush out to buy Shrek 3. And that is interesting. Aren't they interested in movies for their new toy?

Are you kidding? Shrek was huge at the box office both domestically ($321 million) and internationally ($473 million) for a total take of almost $800 million. It was the only big exclusive last week on either side and it was day-and-date. Regardless of whether the movie was any good, somebody obviously liked it. A movie like that should have had huge sales or at least made the numbers close. Plus it was the biggest animated hit available on the HD DVD format. My opinion is that this is a surprisingly big win for Blu-ray.

Anyone who spent $99 on an HDDUD player either already had one, or can't afford to go out and buy many titles, and likely settled on the Transformers one...Also if they got 5 or 10 movies already, they are likely settled in with that. Many likely don't have a tv that does the player justice anyway, so they probably can't see enough difference from regular DVD's to justify spending more on an HD title...

They're probably wondering why their Blu Ray copies of Die Hard 4, Ratatouille & Spider Man don't work in their shiny new A2's.

Absolutely agreed, but almost everything these days is an embarrassment to HD DVD.

Yep. Selling a $98 player is easy. Getting people to buy the software for it is the tough part.

...and like what was said before, how many of those who bought those el cheapo players will buy many movies, or what to spend more than $15 on a movie?

Was at best buy again today, Die Hard movies are running out like crazy and there are none of Die Hard blu ray collection at sight. I asked my source and he said will recieve copies tomorrow and it will be gone fast as when it open tomorrow. This should be good news for Nielsens next week. Ended up buying Saw 3 and The Descent
