Yes, the film gets my perfect rating, which I very rarely give. The interior shots are inevitably a bit dark and lacking in detail, but the vast majority of the movie (particularly the shots in nature or on the war torn plains of France) is so stunning in detail, color, and depth, that I found it impossible to warrant a less than perfect rating. This is exceptional stuff.

AQ: 4.5 stars (out of 5)

Very crisp all the way around.

Film: 4 stars (out of 4)

I've reviewed this film many times before so I won't do it again. Quite simply, it is one of the great romances of all-time and much more touching than Doctor Zhivago and Out of Africa, two films I greatly enjoy but two films that aren't particularly moving. Joe Wright's failure to be nominated for directing is my number 1 most egregious Oscar snub of all-time. There are at least 10 directing choices in the film that truly stand out, and that doesn't include the tracking shot on Dunkirk, which is one of cinema's all-time great tracking shots. I've seen the film 8 times now and the story affects me more each time. Pretty good considering the first time I saw it I gave it 2 1/2 stars (but then it gnawed at me for weeks).
I need to see this one again. I wasn't too impressed when I saw it several years ago, but my tastes and knowledge have grown a lot since then

I liked it a lot. One of the finect cops movies ever.
It is really nice when they make movies with no obvious bad guys or villains.
It makes the movie so much more better and realistic experience.

One thing about this movie sucked though for which I deduct 1 point.
[Show spoiler]Washington dies at the end, and I kind of liked his character. But than again, he dies almost in all his movies, isnt this weird?

9/10.
Glad you liked it, this is one of my favorites and by far Fuqua's finest work.

I don't know, I think King Arthur was really good and Shooter was probably on the same level as Training Day.

Awesome! Seriously, go check out the Triangle thread and the next time you watch it, put a lot of thought into the story and play around with the theories.

edit - just saw that you read some of the theories. I can't wait to watch this a second time so I can really look closely at the film.

Wow I may need to put Underworld on hold for awhile or just outright grab this as well going by what I'm hearing.

Underworld may be a cool film for a lot of people (personally I think it's nothing special) but this is a much better film. Check it out, it should give your mind a good workout

I don't know, I don't think a movie's done that since the Matrix, Inception came kind of close.

Those are both awesome films, but have no where near as complicated of a story as this one. Trust all the hype on this site, you're not gonna know what hit you. I'm not trying to make it seem like this is the most insane movie ever, but after you watch it (and understand what's going on) you'll realize how well done this film is and how much thought it requires to figure it out.

I love Inception and the Matrix gave them both 5/5's but this is totally different movie. Those movies are box office "Hollywood" entertainment flicks with great storylines. But this movie is on a different level of fu3cked-upness!!! HAHAHA you like that. No seriously its different. Wayyyyy different!

House: Season Six(Blu-ray)

Show:4/5

I know many think this show is just repeating itself and that it is showing it's age. That could most def be but I feel that it still is a great show. This season was really about the cast and not the patients. We really got a good look at everyone especially House. It was not the best season but it was still good. I believe I enjoyed it because I have watched every season up to this and I could really understand and feel for the characters. Im excited to see where
[Show spoiler]House & Cuddy's relationship will go.

I would def recommend this season to fans of this show.

Alien

Film: 5/5
-first viewing!!! ok, first sober viewing (SV). I think I watched either this or Aliens in college, but don't remember anything
-incredible horror film with Hitchcock-like suspense:
[Show spoiler]we only see the Alien for what? 5 times for a total of 6 minutes?? Perfection: the remaining 1 hour and 54 minutes of the 2 hours is ALL SUSPENSE, with ALien sightings every 20 minutes or so...paced perfectly

-I guess the standard interpretation is humans are protagonist, trying to get home and ALien is antagonist, but you could easily see it in reverse:
[Show spoiler] (1) ALien and alien eggs are all happy and content on their planet, harming nobody
(2) CUrious man can't help but open up the eggs and invade the Alien's private space (if you were teh ALien, wouldn't you defend yourself????)
(3) Alien understandably defends themself
(4) Man brings Alien onto ship (even though stuck to dude's face, remember: how did he get on the dudes face? dude was invading alien's space)
(5) Alien is now reasonable to assume they're prisoner on ship and again, should defend themself
. Just interesting to see the film a different way
-Holy wowsa Weaver's butt shot at 1:47 Nice body, what was she? 25?
-Can't wait for this blu, fantastic horror film. I'd consider it more horror than sci-fi.

Yes, I can't wait to see this again in glorious high-def either!

Your interpretation on the invasion theme is interesting, and kinda does correlate with what I've read about it. I think your interpretations support it.
[Show spoiler]As I understood it, the Nostromos ship represents a body (with Mother being like the brain, the one room with the dripping water like a stomach, etc), and the alien is an infestation that kills it. The only way to remove it is to literally blow it out of the body into space.

Beetlejuice.”

A favorite since childhood. Tim Burton uses an impressive style and imagination to craft a clever and tight story with fun characters. This is one of those movies that has a universe of its own, filled with rules and nuances that help make it distinctive.

On top of all that, the movie is thoroughly entertaining with plenty of zany halfway cartoonish comedy, funny dialogue, neat SFX, and a solid production value. And the music is classic.

“Nice f***ing model!!”

4.5/5 (entertainment: 4.5/5, story: 4.5/5, film: 4.5/5)

This Blu-Ray looks fantastic; a little bit of film noise perhaps, but the grain looks very natural and most of the color/contrast is excellent. The image is sharp, and details are prevalent most of the way through. Sound quality seemed okay.

PQ: 4.5/5, AQ: 4/5
