Cars sucked and it should never have been green lit for a sequel theirs no story there and one of the major cast members has passed away, the only Pixar movie that deserves a sequel is The Incredibles maybe Finding Nemo but that could be stretching it a bit.

I really wish this was actually going to happen, the concept are looks great

But if Pixar canceled it they must have had a good reason...right?

I would have really loved to have seen Newt, because the concept art looks great and I'm sure it would have been superb, succh a shame.

But I'm not upset in the slightest that they've repleced it with Monsters, Inc. 2, because the Monsters, Inc. has always been my favourite Pixar film and I can't wait to see what happens in the sequel. And people don't forget, we still have another original film in the form of Brave, so don't be too down about it, be positive.

I can't help but wonder if they cancelled Newt cause of Alpha & Omega. Since the storyline is similar.

Quote:
Kate (Hayden Panettiere) and Humphrey (Justin Long) are two wolves from the same pack in Canada's Jasper National Park, but on opposite ends of the social order. Kate, daughter of the main alpha male, is herself an Alpha and does what one should: taking her duty and commitment to the pack seriously. Humphrey, on the other hand, is an Omega wolf, the lowest of the pack, and spends his days making jokes and playing about with his other Omega friends. One day, Kate is arranged to mate with the Alpha male of a rival pack to preserve peace. However, both Kate and Humphrey are sedated and taken far away from home to the Sawtooth National Recreation Area in Idaho where they are expected to repopulate their species. Instead, the two wolves who should never find themselves socializing with each other embark on a journey together to return home and save their pack before relations between rival packs come to a boil.
Two animals from an endangered species who don't get along, chosen to repopulate the species? Hmmm.

Plus Wolves are a lot cooler than Lizards. So they have that going for them as well.

So does this mean that Rydstrom is going to return to Skywalker Sound? That does suck, though. I'd rather see this than a sequel to Cars and Monsters, Inc.

Well, there are many occasions when animated film's plots have clashed. A Bug's Life - Antz, Shark Tale - Finding Nemo, Madagascar - The Wild. And usually the one second released, no matter on which started production first, gets a bit of negative feedback on plot stealing. Pixar wouldn't want to release anything that appears to be a clone of something, no matter if the quality of their film is wildly superior, I guess.

Sorry but that movie looks beyond dumb to me, I doubt I'll see it, may get it for the nieces at some point if they like it.

Yup Pixar's gotten there with me too, I doubt they'll ever release a movie I won't at least see in theatres, one of the consistently best studios in the business.

Two squabbling but unaccustomed-to-the-real-world amphibians escaping to the nature of the swamp, and eventually falling for each other under the moonlight?....Seems like we'd just been down that road before.
(Not to mention that Pixar had cancelled it almost the same week as Snow Queen was dropped, Tangled got a title change, and other such post-Princess & the Frog panic and hysteria.)

From the art, Pixar looks like it would've added a subplot about the female scientist having her own trouble mating, and that's pure schmaltz-for-the-grownups Pixar.
The rest?...Just put it down to bad timing.

That stinks. I hope it's only rumored to be canceled. This concept art and story synopsis sound great. Fingers crossed that it isn't.

It's been officially cancelled and has been for quite a while now, so I don't know why you think that it's still a rumour.

Cars is looking spectacular on blu-ray and (I guess I'm alone) I really enjoyed it. Does it deserve a sequel? Maybe not but Disney and Pixar knows it will be a hit and most of us (even the haters) will get it anyway.

Blu Blood what about Toy Story?
You think it didn't deserve sequels?

Cheers,
Gui.
