Ah, sorry. Haven't really kept up with upcoming films lately. Didn't know it was officially canceled. Last time I read, it was still only rumored.

He didn't say it was bad, it underperformed heavily at the box office.

It wasn't that heavy, it just didn't do as well because it came out only a week before Avatar and so it really never had a chance, but in its opening week it did very well.

So do you have anything that makes this more than a rumor?

Well there is the fact that if it hasn't been cancelled the Rumor would of been dealt with by Pixar or Disney

Well, there's been a lot of people saying the thing has been dead...It started in February when Floyd Norman was quoted saying: "Newt is dead." And since then we've heard lots of information pointing that it is, in fact, dead. A lot of different movies have gotten pushed ahead of it at Pixar and neither Disney or Pixar has come out to tell us that the movie isn't dead...So all signs (unfortunately) point to this movie being dead

Either that, or there going to work on it as a back burner and we'll get it quite a long time from when it was supposed to originally be released...

I think you make a very good point there Foggy, because a rumour like this from one of the most successful film companies ever would have been dealt with by now, since it's been 4 months. If what I posted was wrong then there would have been a very quick response, very much like when it was said that Bond 23 had been officially cancelled.

That's a really good comparison. When Bond 23 was rumored to be canceled, the producers were quick to jump on the rumor and kill it within days. It's been four months since Newt has been canceled, and no one has come out to tell us otherwise. So I'm honestly lead to believe the project is dead.

It's also been removed from IMDB.

The market watch thing isn't a direct quote from anyone at Pixar...so until I hear otherwise from someone there, I'm going to believe it's been canceled. I think the Pixar blog is our best information on the situation since it was direct information from the source. If they're saying Newt is dead.....well then I'm pretty sure it's dead

Well if Newt was coming out next year then there would have been a release date or something else by now announced about the film, but there hasn't and the majority of sources points to the fact that the film is dead.

Exactly. We have absolutely no info coming from Pixar. All signs are pointing to them killing the movie. No one is coming out to deny the statements that have been made. I'm sure they were hoping to kill it quietly but when it spread like fire across the internet they just let the world know and didn't stop it.

The film if isn't dead, has at least ceased development, at the latest we'll see it will be 2013. And that is if they pick up development on it.

The newer link you provided just states it's been pushed. I'm not saying there's probably some truth there, where's there's smoke, there's usually fire. I'm just wanting proof it's canceled (if it was)
