The best director's cut of any movie, IMHO, is Dances With Wolves. Yes, it's much longer but it doesn't feel like it and the additional scenes truly add to the story and atmosphere. This would be an awesome addition to Blu!

What's funny about that Director's Cut is that because of its length, it doesn't feel like a movie. It's actually more involving that way.

As for Director's Cuts, I do think they should offer them both ways. I prefer the theatrical cut of Pearl Harbor to the director's cut because the gore seems out of place and the editing is worse (not to mention looping music bugs me). There was one scene with Alec Baldwin that they added that I did like though, but not enough to watch it with the added gore. And then there's Tears of the Sun, which the Director's Cut makes certain things clearer and makes the movie better. And the Kingdom of Heaven cut which just kills the theatrical cut (which shouldn't have been released in its form). But I think this seemless branching is genius for the simple fact that you really only need one main encode, and then just the extra scenes could be elsewhere on the disc.

I think the world of Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut. It is by far the best director's cut video I have seen thus far. I could not believe how much they took out in the theatrical version ...they are two completely different movies in retrospect. I already have seen the movie on Blu-ray like 5 times already and its a 3+ hr movie!

I don't know how they ever released a theatrical version of that... When I saw it I had trouble keeping track of what's going on. Then I saw the Director's Cut and it's worlds above the theatrical cut. I couldn't believe how much of an improvement there was over the theatrical cut. It was truly amazing.

Another great so-called director's cut on Blu would be The Abyss, only because it's never had an anamorphic release and the extended cut is night and day better than the theatrical. And it's a Fox release!

I've watched the DC of Independence day so many times that if I get (pre-ordered it for some time) it in original cut I'll be quite angry.

I agree with the Pearl Harbor Directors Cut. I felt that the gore took away from the film. I find myself watching the Theatrical cut. I did enjoy the added Alec Baldwin scene, but the gore was just too much for a historical film. I enjoy Micheal Bay films now since the release of Pearl Harbor, but it seems he could not keep his hand out of the cookie jar when it came to gore.

There are very few films where I watch the theatrical over the DC.
