This movie was a lot better than I expected. We all know video game to movie adaptions are never the best but I can see why this movie did so well. I'm not normally a fan of Jake Gyllenhal but his portrayal as the Prince was pretty good. I haven't played too much of the first game but I've played some and it felt just like the game with all the running up walls and jumping around. It had a great story and a great set of characters. I won't comment on the AQ or PQ since I was only watching on a 22" TV but it still looked decent.

4/5
I agree; I was a bit skeptical about seeing Jake as an action hero, but he did okay. I felt the games had way more acrobatics than the film, but it's probably just as well that the movie used only a moderate amount.

I really should watch it again.

The director only wanted him to do moves that made sense for the story. I'm actually glad that they didn't overdo it too.

Watched this yesterday. Liked it every bit as much as I did in the theater. Already have an urge to watch it again.

Actually, I do remember hearing that. I think Bruckheimer wanted to keep it that way too. Makes sense.

Marie Antoinette

This movie made me interested in the characters rather than giving me a sense that I knew and understood them. Not that the characters are presented as particularly complex. Didn't really care for the use of modern music. At least it was pretty to look at and well acted.

I was also somewhat disappointed with The Virgin Suicides. I think Sofia Coppola does a better job with fewer characters like in Lost In Translation and hope Somewhere is more similar to that.

Buried

A great one-man show, really keeps you interested and not once will you look at your watch. His performance is amazing to keep you enthralled in what he is going through during his ordeal of being trapped in a box.
A few could be disappointed by the movie, but very few I suspect. As a showcase for great filmmaking, this first-time director is one to look out for in the future.

I really really liked Wolverine the first time I saw it. I still do like it, just not as much.
Weird. I LOVED X1 and HATED X2.

I don't think I've run across many who hated X2 if any. I do think it is overrated in some instances, as its pretty good but not amazing or anything imo especially now in the days of Iron Man and Batman.

Care to elaborate? (preferably in sarcasm drenched wit )

Franky, I dont remember a lot about it. I just remember sitting in the theater and feeling hugely let down after really enjoying the first. I remember contemplating walking out.

I had the same experience with Spiderman 2. I hated it. There was just way too much spectacle and not enough story. Too many over the top action scenes with nothing of substance connecting them. Never bothered with 3.

Same with Pirates 2. Yuck. However, I liked Pirates 3.

---------------------------------------------------

Hey, where are they on Riddick 3? I was looking for some up to date scoop yesterday but came up empty.

Haha ouch. Yeah they messed with it quite a bit, but it's still an enjoyable film for me.

In terms of enjoyment, personally. This will piss off a lot of people
Wolverine
X3
X2
X1

And Spider-Man -
Spider-Man 3
Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man
Will admit the "2" movies in both trilogies are probably the best though.

Well...

[Show spoiler]
The plot overall is bigger, more diabolical, broader in scope, and entails much bigger issues than the first film, but without getting as far-out as the third film.

Nightcrawler invades the freakin' White House single-handedly!!

Mystique is hotter than ever.

The Xavier mason is freakin' invaded and ransacked and everything looks grim for all the kiddies.

Massive police raid around Iceman's home...

Storm finally puts her powers to good use summoning a freakin' shedload of twisters!

Wolverine vs Lady Deathstrike. He met his match.

Charles Xavier vs the dude in the wheelchair. It just doesn't get more exciting than two guys in chairs staring at each other.

Jean Grey vs Cyclops.

A freakin' dam explodes and gushes water all over the forest, and only Jean Grey can hold it back while beckoning the power of the Phoenix!!!

So all of that is not special?!!

Oh wait, compared to "Iron Man" and the new "Batman," yeah you got a point.

I'm a sucker for a good spectacle.

I get the same way around movie franchises like these, which aren't planned out in advance. For example, "X2," "Spidey 2," "Aliens," "Star Trek II," etc...
