If anything, definitely look into a sound bar or a HTIB system. AQ is just as important as PQ

Plus, it's fun being able to crank it up when you're watching The Dark Knight or The Fast and the Furious

Man after buying my first HT system and getting a e2-300 sub audio quality means allot! You get so much into some films with good audio. Movies like Avatar, Transformers, The Dark Knight, SPR War of the Worlds, LOTR's etc. really allow you to test the limits of you equipment while allowing you to enjoy the movie i little bit more.

Incredible film and my favorite of Hero, that, and Crouching Tiger (the popular early 2000 wushu films). Crouching Tiger is the best of the bunch and Hero is probably the most complex, but I enjoy House the most.

Shut up!

My gardener and maid kept whining about their "weak" accomodations, so I hooked 'em up.

Recently watched my Dutch blu version of The NeverEnding Story for the umpteenth time as it's my favorite film. I won't get into the Dutch vs. US release discussion anymore. but read the review here of the US version if you are curious as to why I choose the Dutch version.

Missing (netflix streaming) (Criterion) (1982)

synopsis: Missing is political filmmaker extraordinaire Costa-Gavras’s compelling, controversial dramatization of the search for American filmmaker and journalist Charles Horman, who mysteriously disappeared during the 1973 coup in Chile. Jack Lemmon and Sissy Spacek give magnetic, emotionally commanding performances as Charles’s father and wife, who are led by U.S. embassy and consulate officials through a series of bureaucratic dead-ends before eventually uncovering the terrifying facts about Charles’s fate and disillusioning truths about their government. Written and directed with clarity and conscience, the Academy Award–winning Missing is a testament to Costa-Gavras’s daring.

Won the Palme D'or and the Oscar for best adapted screenplay, and was nominated for best actor and best actress. 96% on RT.

Film: 3 1/2 stars (out of 4)

Very solid film with a moving performance from Jack Lemmon. The scene where he talks about his "only son" is top-notch acting. This film was so controversial that it includes a message from the US Department of State at the end of the film that the film is fiction, despite the fact that the film opens with a note saying it's true. It's so controversial that Chile denounced it and the US banned not only the movie but the book as well, before it came back out in 1996.

Despite this controversy, the film could've been even more direct, which is something Ebert laments. It's not tame or subtle by any means, but it's just missing something. I don't completely agree with Ebert's criticism that the film's directing and editing are distracting--I think both were done in accordance with this type of film, conveying the conflicting reports of this individual.

A solid film that involves an interesting topic. Oh, and the scene with the helicopter (which is the Criterion cover) is memorable.

Le Petit Soldat (The Little Soldier) (1960)

Film: 3 1/2 stars (out of 4)

Godard's second film, and the third Godard I've seen so far. It involves a man in Geneva who works for French intelligence and is ordered to kill a man who supports Algerian resistance. He meets Anna Karina, who supports the Algerian resistance. The film is a commentary on the Algerian war, among other things. In typical Godard fashion, there is an eloquent yet detached narrator and several different things going on. While Ebert claims the film is funny, I disagree. The film lacks the joviality and whimsy that comes through in Vivre sa Vie and Pierrot Le Fou. It's a serious film. So serious that it was banned in France for three years, until 1963. Highly recommended.
