Thumbs up get ready to smile : Linux 3D graphics access on PS3 found

Linux 3D graphics access on PS3 found
Category: Games

A method has been found to reach Linux 3D Graphics on the PS3. A number of hackers have clubbed together to release a draft kernel module for this along with a relevant Xorg driver.

it means through Linux you could be able to run 3D accelerated games in LINUX
thats a good thing....that means if you load a LINUX OS on your playstation 3 just like any reg computer the playstation 3 could get 3D accelerated games for LINUX to be ported to the Playstation 3..more FREEWARE Games for the playstation 3.... . this very well could pave the way for a standard Linux platform for Linux Open Source Game development...thats great for LINUX and the Gamer's everywhere..though with Playstation 3 owners..., getting more free games..yea that's a great thing.

1ST THING IS NOT LIKELY AT ALL..because a "PS3 BLU-RAY DISC DUMP" WOULD most likely fail because of BD+. if you are talking about OFFICIAL PLAYSTATION 3 published games unless it's downloadable games which you would still not be able to access outside of the XMB IE: not in Linux unless its recompiled. but the great thing is you would be able to run games made for LINUX and trust me on this one there is so much freeware linux games you would be quite entertained anyway., so buy the games for the playstation 3 and play the Linux games also its a Win Win..you don't need to rip games. ONE its wrong and 2nd they should be paid for their work since the playstation 3's game and Movies disc's are very scratch resistand there is no real reason to back up the game anymore.

oh im sorry . what i meant was that i wanted the "MACHINE" to perform above and beyond of what the company thought that it could do, especially by consumers who play robin hood to feed the needy with regular intervals of updates in secrecy of prying corporate eyes

thats better

that's why i said not likely at all due to the BD+ yea it could happen but just like you said to some it may not be worth it. for hackers being able to access the RSX while in Linux is a great thing no argument there playing 3D accelerated games with thing's like CEDEGA running on the playstation 3 with linux and this new development is a big boost to the added value to the owner of a playstation 3. some may not care but this in My OPINION is a D@mn good development.

Don't get too excited, the next firmware update will take care of this "method" they have found.
