The Walt Disney Company had nothing to do with the alterations made to the Asian films that were released by Miramax and Dimension Films. Harvey Weinstein approved the alterations and Disney was opposed to changes made in several of those films.

The Weinstein Company was able to renegotiate the distribution deal for many of these films effectively moving them from the Disney owned Miramax/Dimension to the The Weinstein Company owned Miramax/Dimension. Some films remained at Disney and unfortunately, whiile Disney has the elements for these films, these are the edited versions produced by Miramax/Dimension.

You may also notice that a large majority of these former Miramax/Dimension releases are now appearing as Dragon Dynasty releases.Thankfully, The Weinstein Company has lost the distribution rights for a large percentage of the Fortune Star library.

I doubt we will ever see proper releases for all of these releases given that:

A) The Miramax/Dimension catalog of films that were in Disney's possession have been sold off. Meaning the new owners take ownership of the altered elements.

B) The Dragon Dynasty label is still alive thanks to Vivendi.

C) Harvey Weinstein could care less.

Which one do all you prefer: the original Hong Kong film or the newer Peter Jackson Hong Kong film?

Aw, c'mon, don't you know the rules?:
Whenever Miramax has an Oscar nominee, it's Miramax's...
Whenever Miramax does something wrong with the fans, or hits controversy in the headlines, quote, "Disney did it again!!"

(Harvey had it put in their contract, Disney is only to assume full responsibility for Miramax's mistakes. )

For said reason, I doubt we'll ever "eventually" see them on Blu-ray, either.
