barely any releases for HD DVD, and a bunch of crappy movies for Blu-ray.

Looks like I'll be saving $ in January - which is probably a good thing!

Come on, Good Luck Chuck? Who buys that trash?

Mobsters? ZZZZZZZZZ

3:10 To Yuma and the Pianist are great films though.

In for the Rock. Anyone know if it will have PCM or TruHD and not DTS-MA?

PCM!

Disney (to my knowledge) has never used TrueHD or DTS-HD MA.

The important ones are listed above. I've been saying this for a while, January will see almost every single day/date boxoffice title exclusive to Blu-ray.

by the way, The Invasion from Warner has been redated to come out 1/29/2007. My guess is Daddy Day Camp is much easier to out perform than 3:10 To Yuma.

Default What about the second half of the year?!

You're right about the first few months but they have some blockbusters coming their way later on in the year. Iron-Man, Cloverfield, I am Legend, Dark Knight.

Not sure if we'll get some of those but odds are they will. If anyone has info on that, I'm sure we'd all like to know.

"I Am Legend" and "The Dark Knight" are Warner Bros., so we should get those, and there's always the possibility they won't get them... but yeah, there are some big titles coming this year that will be big sellers for the red side.

Warner has I am Legend and Dark Knight, but Dark Knight won't be out for quite some time, probably next Christmas. And as for Cloverfield, there is a reason studios dump films into the middle of January. It is typically because they aren't too good and they don't have to deal with the competition of much better films during the Christmas and Summer seasons. Besides, it is supposed to look like it was shot on home video cameras and cell phones. How great is that going to look in hi def?

It will still be a big hit for HD DVD though...

As for the bolded part, I remember the same thing being said about "300"...

But of course none of those movies have even been released into the theaters yet, so they won't be on HD DVD too soon, at least one would think they wouldn't.

"Cloverfield" should be on HD DVD during the April/May/June timeframe. Not too far away. "Bee Movie" and "Beowulf" should be sooner than that.

That's why I think these first few weeks of '08 are so important. Convince WB to go exclusive, Universal to go neutral, and problem solved!

If the first week of the year is 80:20 or over than I would expect some people in the HD DVD camp to use that later to claim that they are doing well because they closed the gap and Blu-ray didn't maintain 4:1 (even if it is 3:1 or 2:1) for YTD. On the other hand, if Warner and New Line go to Blu-ray exclusively at CES the 2nd week of January, then 4:1 or higher could become fairly common.
