Maybe the supplements are in 1080i, that's my guess. Disney will not lower their standards to 720p/1080i for a full-feature film.

Default POTC 3 error on packaging?

Just got back from BB with my copy of POTC 3 and looking at the packaging is says....."1080i High Definition" for the feature as well as the bonus disc.......should this not say 1080p at least for the movie?

I'm sure it's just an error on the packaging......

Default Just Got Pirates 3, but I am a Little Confused

Why does the video on the back of the box art and the Blu-Ray case itself both state only 1080i instead of 1080p?

Lol...I just started a new discussion regarding this too. I think it's an error written by mistake by Disney.

The movie can be in 1080i.
Planet Earth is 1080i and I'm sure that there are other titles like that also.
The player will take that and convert it to 1080p.

Why the shock? Sounds too HD-DVD like?

Considering there is plenty room on a BD50 for 1080p and that both previous films were 1080p I find it hard to believe its 1080i. I think the reviewers would have picked up on the PQ difference.

This is just a bad typo.

I got mine at Target, it also says 1080i... and the inside of the case is all busted up, I'm taking it back for another one. The disc looks messed up too.

This is just a bad typo.
Or that all of the info to recreate a 1080p image is in a 1080i image.
If it's a typo so be it, but I would not find it surprising if it isn't AND that no one noticed any difference in PQ because of it.
Do you hear the out crys of Planet Earth looking bad?

Hey I just got my copy and I expect nothing but a stunning pic so I'm not picking this as a bashing point but as maybe an eye opener to some here if this is indeed true.

I'm sure its mistype package printing or let's think about it ,how comes the first two movies is 1080P and now POTC3 is 1080i.

This is Disney and blu-ray so the mistake is in the package and not in the movie itself.hopefully a clarification from Disney will arise very soon or HD-DUD will comment on it forever.

Why does the UK version have a 1.85 aspect ratio and the US version 2.35?
