Yeah, I could try painting the trim pieces. I have the black ends for my amp right now, so I'd want a REALLY good match if I were to do that. I've even seen a few pictures where people have removed the trim completely, just putting the screws in place. That looks kind of good too.

I contacted them about the XDA-1 and I can't get a firm answer on how much to get it to Canada until they have them in stock. Probably weight and size issues with figuring out shipping I would guess. So that's still a possibility. I want to hear how good the UMC-1 DAC stage is too, everywhere I'm reading says the sound quality is miles above what people used to own. I do still need a new sub as well, as I sold my big box sub a while ago, it didn't blend well with the new towers. Maybe the Ultra12 will go on sale around Christmas.

All I know for now is I keep checking my email for a shipping confirmation.

I think this is accurate. When my first LPA-1 arrived it sounded dead and lifeless out of the box. I wasn't impressed. I left the room and let it run and didn't return for 6 hours as to not let myself get used to the sound. I came back, and that's when I heard the difference. The same happened with my 2nd LPA-1. My XPA-2 and XPA-5, however, sounded fantastic out of the box. So I think maybe either the LPA-1s didn't get ample factory break-in time, or perhaps since that was several years ago they just weren't being as stringent about factory break in.

I figure it should go well with the XPA-5. Now to decide what to spend the EmoBucks on?
Congrats, Zman!

But with the latest release, they have ironed out most, if not all, of the concerns I would have with the unit. I went with the UMC-1 instead of waiting for the XMC-1, because I still need to use legacy inputs for my cable box. It's a known issue with my cable company that the HDMI outputs on their boxes have a lot of drops with audio and video. With component, there's no problems.
I'm excited to hear the audio differences with it versus my Pioneer receiver that I was using. Should be an interesting comparison.

I'll definitely write a review here for the unit once I get it, and after I live with it for a while. Try to get some first-hand info out to those who are interested.
I'm on my 2nd UMC (first was defective), and am 2 firmwares behind. No issues on mine other than DolbyVolume needs a volume adjustment to reactivate when switching sources. I believe the latest FW fixes that, but I don't have any pressing issues so I've been too lazy to install it.

Also, just a tip, if you stream music and have a way to upconvert to 176.4 kHz, give that a try. I do that with FLAC --> PCM, and the UMC sounds fantasic!

Her's mine as well Zman, though I used black screws on mine. The only reason why I painted them is because there was a dry spell of like 2 months some time last year where I didn't see the trim pieces available. I grew tired of waiting and busted out the Krylon per the information crabyBlue posted somewhere (sorry, can't find the link ).

This is somewhat of an old pic as I also now have an ERC-1 and am now waiting for the 2 RU black trim pieces to become available for it and my USP-1. Still... waiting... may have to bust out the Krylon again.

Thanks red-5ive. I may consider painting. Sarah told me today on the phone that they're expecting more trim pieces in mid-November. Does that help the wait at all?

Yeah, that's a great song - I grew up with Men Without Hats, they were big in the U.S. in the 80s. I'm 6' myself and cash in at 215 lbs. (97kg) / 35" waist. Been "training" for 23 years now (since I was 17).

Default Power supply

The electrician came last night.

Thanks everyone that helped.

WE found out that my main rack was on a 16A circuit. However the idiots who wired my room had put 5 other sockets into the same circuit.

So I was also powering up my 3 subs, subs in the center channel and my buttkicker system on the same circuit.

The electrician added 5 other 16A circuits in and seperated all the power sockets.

So my rack is on a 16A circuit now, with no other sockets attached to it.

He told me 16A was heaps.

Interestingly I ran a SACD as loud as I could last night and monitored what my belkin said I was using in amps. It never got higher than 2.1A. Bugger all.

So 16A will be heaps.

That's what i'm doing right now... I pulled them apart got the screws screwed into a piece of cardboard and some double sided tape on the trims and glued them to the cardboard. I'm at my 2nd coat of Rust-Oleum Painters Touch Semi-Gloss. I don't see the use of spending $20 a kit when $5 will get me the same results. And Red, your setup is giving me a woody!!

Very cool. Cycling does wonders - wish I could do that more, weather where I live isn't very forgiving maybe 8 months out of the year.

I guess I can wait for mid-November. I pulled the trim pieces off for now and installed black screws that I had left over. Thanks for the update!

I spent quite a bit for those black trims, but I must say it goes quite well with my predominantly black colored HT gear.
