Default The best sequel to Predator

Finally a film that does the original justice!

Once again, some people have some 'splaining to do...this movie is very fun to immerse oneself into.

Great cast of dirtbags being hunted by soul less alien creatures.
Great CGFX, superb stunts, great set backdrop (Hawaii) and Brody does much better than I was led to believe.

My 2nd fav Predator franchise now.

AVP
*Predators
*Predator (*ok...I think they are tied now that I think about it)
Predator 2
AVP Requiem (lol)

[Show spoiler]I love how every nerd who got wedgied in high school calls any movie with a ficticious creature in it...a "B" movie.

"Predators" does for the franchise what "Predator" could not do in 1987...deliver a huge sci-fi action vehicle on a big budget with superb technology, the technology wasn't there in 1987.

Sure, Predator is a classic and will always be 'the original', one of my fav Ahnold flicks but, the PQ/ AQ and replay value of this is better due to more depth and more flair thrown into the effort.

It pays humble homage to the first, and in essence is the ordained sequel to Predator, much more than Predator 2 ever dreamed of.
The story arc, the hunted characters, the dynamic of the fleshed in personalities, the CGFX of the monsters...are all done top tier.

I liked the fact they added creatures and a sub-species of Predators that were also hunted.

I just watched this on BluRay and it comes alive, nearly reference PQ, the twists and turns are super.

Brody did much better than I thought he would and the critics downgrading on him is missplaced imo.

The 'Extras" with animated back stories and making of, is phenomenol and makes me like the film even more.
The Producer is showing us how effed up our own world really is and this "hunting" escapade is right on par with our own 'failed' humanity in some cases.

A must own for any afficianado of the Predator franchise.

Bravisimo.

Got a chance to watch it tonight and I agree with the explosions. They could've added a little more "oomp" to them. I mean the Predator growls had more bass than the damn explosions

Haha.
Yeah I know I'm on an island on AVP but, that film is so insane.

You put Predators, humans and Aliens in a pyramid...add snow/ ice conditions (I love snow settings in horror films) and the mother of all aliens (the queen) and combine it with reference PQ/ AQ...Im all in.

=)

I fully realize I stand totally alone on many of my choices but, hey I gots to be true to me lol, can't go status quo to look kool.

I like avp, just like I want all the series to continue I think its interesting having all three thrown together... One thing I didn't like in it was these aliens get slaughtered by the 100s in other movies yet they donk off two predators these elite super hunters in like the first couple minutes

Go watch Alien(S) and how dumb they are running into the drone guns, yet in AVP they take out 2 predators right off the bat... Guess I should have been more specific I'd just assumed most people had seen the second movie

????
Another AVP fan??

Yr a rare breed mister.
;p

I know what yr saying but, the Preds came in thinking it'd be a turkey shoot and they underestimated (both humans and Aliens) the chaos of the situation and a few got caught.

[Show spoiler]The extended cut has insane queen alien scene vs last human and baddest pred...in the snow. INSANE.

Weren't those supposed to be
[Show spoiler]tween/teenage
Predators in the first AVP; hence, why
[Show spoiler]they got their asses handed
to them.

Well there is still these inconsistencies with AVP.

Predators like the heat and its not to warm in antarctica.

Also the Aliens don't show up on infrared (as per Aliens) , yet the Preds can see them.

That's weird. Mine doesn't take any longer to load and play in my PS3 than any other movie I have. I really think some others take even longer. My PS3 is an old fat 80GB model if it matters.

That was the way I understood it, and that
[Show spoiler]hunting the aliens like they were in this movie was like a rite of passage of some kind.

As far as the infrared issue, if you recall AVP: Requiem, when the
[Show spoiler]hybrid alien/predator is killing all the predators on the ship in the beginning, the predator that goes after him couldn't see him originally and had to change his vision spectrum before he was able to. We only get a brief glimpse of it, but he witnessed another predator being killed by something he couldn't see and then we saw his vision spectrum change once or twice and then he was able to see the creature that killed him.

True, but where else on Earth would you keep an Alien Queen frozen?

Also, as shown in Predator 2...they can see in numerous spectrums.

AVP? Give me a break. Keep the stupid P out of the Alien movies!

Give me real prequel to Alien and Aliens. And, once Scott and Fox square up, it's coming soon to a theater near you.
