Got a chance to watch it tonight and I agree with the explosions. They could've added a little more "oomp" to them. I mean the Predator growls had more bass than the damn explosions

Once again, some people have some 'splaining to do...this movie is very fun to immerse oneself into.

Great cast of dirtbags being hunted by soul less alien creatures.
Great CGFX, superb stunts, great set backdrop (Hawaii) and Brody does much better than I was led to believe.

My 2nd fav Predator franchise now.

AVP
*Predators
*Predator (*ok...I think they are tied now that I think about it)
Predator 2
AVP Requiem (lol)

[Show spoiler]I love how every nerd who got wedgied in high school calls any movie with a ficticious creature in it...a "B" movie.

"Predators" does for the franchise what "Predator" could not do in 1987...deliver a huge sci-fi action vehicle on a big budget with superb technology, the technology wasn't there in 1987.

Sure, Predator is a classic and will always be 'the original', one of my fav Ahnold flicks but, the PQ/ AQ and replay value of this is better due to more depth and more flair thrown into the effort.

It pays humble homage to the first, and in essence is the ordained sequel to Predator, much more than Predator 2 ever dreamed of.
The story arc, the hunted characters, the dynamic of the fleshed in personalities, the CGFX of the monsters...are all done top tier.

I liked the fact they added creatures and a sub-species of Predators that were also hunted.

I just watched this on BluRay and it comes alive, nearly reference PQ, the twists and turns are super.

Brody did much better than I thought he would and the critics downgrading on him is missplaced imo.

The 'Extras" with animated back stories and making of, is phenomenol and makes me like the film even more.
The Producer is showing us how effed up our own world really is and this "hunting" escapade is right on par with our own 'failed' humanity in some cases.

A must own for any afficianado of the Predator franchise.

Bravisimo.
Hey, glad you liked it. I'm just gonna pretend you didn't put AVP ahead of of this and the original though :P.

Haha.
Yeah I know I'm on an island on AVP but, that film is so insane.

You put Predators, humans and Aliens in a pyramid...add snow/ ice conditions (I love snow settings in horror films) and the mother of all aliens (the queen) and combine it with reference PQ/ AQ...Im all in.

=)

I fully realize I stand totally alone on many of my choices but, hey I gots to be true to me lol, can't go status quo to look kool.

I usually skim Extras at this time because hours spent on too much Extras is time I need for my unwatched BluRays.

That said, I did get pulled in deep to these Extras. The backstories are superb and the making of...stunts....are insane.

This movie will be better respected as time goes on imo.

I expect a sequel.

There will be a sequel Rodriguez confirmed it right before the movie came out in theaters he is working on the story and should come out no later than 2012.

The worst thing about AVP other than the Predators, is that in the previous Alien films, Ripley was hell bent on making sure the Aliens never reached planet Earth, but in AVP, oh it turns out they've been here all along...

Kick in the nuts to the series if you ask me.

Lmao, true. I always thought AVP was a fun movie, even though it portrays the creatures wrong, and contradicts the actual movies.

If she never knew they were here previously, would it matter?

Moreover, AVP was not intended to be a sequel of the Alien Franchise regarding it's eventlines.

It stands on it's own and I guess I'm just not a rabid enough 'fan' of any movie to hold a preconceived set of rules up to any sequel/ prequel.

I think alot of fans are missing alot of movies by doing this.
