That is a very good point. Coming off the Thanksgiving week and with no major releases the actual amount of titles sold would pale in comparison with the prior week or this week.

I agree. But, people will be wringing their hands and screaming that the BDA isn't doing enough if the ratio is close.

And HD DVD will be out there saying it is proof that those $98 players are selling HD DVD discs (although it seems to have sold one title in mysteriously high numbers).

Open Season had the same thing last week, and many were rejoicing and not considering that anomoly.

Let me get it out of the way...

If it's less than 2:1 Rdjam will lead the HD DVD circle jerk about how this proves HD DVD is catching up. MidnightWatcher will post over at HDD that Warner is going Red.

What if it's closer, but because of rounding down last week, the YTD ratio goes up a point.

I agree, and it's sad that people can't view the numbers in context. Look at the releases for both formats, compared to the past two months, they are borderline pathetic. It should be known that this will be an off week.

Next weeks numbers should be a slaughter

But I thought that Open Season was given away ( but still showed up on sales receipts ) with the purchase of a PS3, Planet Earth is not given away, it is being sold, and if it really did have sales within 2% of Live Free or Die Hard, how many copies is that, if it is not that many did LFoDH drop that far, lot of weird things going on.

I also noticed that Batman Begins is back up in the rankings, the only time that happens is when folks are buying it for their new players since most HD DUD folks already own it.

Lastly, I read both here and at AVS that those $99.00 HD DUD players would take a month to affect the sales ratio, first why and second, it has been a month since they were sold, could it be true?

And that's the double edged sword that are forums, they're fun and informative, but you also have to put up with idiots gloating.

Without them I'm guessing these ratios wouldn't be followed half as intently.

For example, I'm from the UK, there are no weekly ratios, no one misses them. We just hear every few months the latest total figures, everyones happy, no weekly grief on forums, lol!

I wouldn't get too worked up over this tidbit of information that's being leaked and spread around. I won't be losing any sleep over the numbers. It will be close, but blu will come out ahead. And oddly enough, this "rumor" has an incredible pungent aroma like the "Warner going Blu exclusive" hoax that was going around a while back. One of the players in that hoax is running around various forums tee-heeing about this already.

While I do agree, and I definitely agree about next week I personally feel that with the disparity in numbers of players in homes that there should never eeeeeeeever even be a doubt that blu beat hd for the week and there should never be a question that it will be a decent margin.
The fact that there is still even the off chance is a sign that there is still work to be done.

We did forget that black friday is a monster volume day, and that typically means some slow down in the immediate week. otoh, ramping up closer to xmas, volumes do pick up --- DVD's are always the convenient last minute gift for those too lazy to make a list.

And the usaul suspects are already saying it. Question is would those whom pay $98 for a player go out in numbers and spend $68 on PE?

Seems that the HD DVDers are trying to show Warner that revenue is more important than sales ratios. There seems to be some concerted effort to going on with PE.

Strange indeed

Planet Earth, 300, Batman, those titles constantly crop up whenever there's a big influx of new HD DVD owners. They're standard HD porn titles

58:42. Dave Vaughn is right about that being surprising.
I expected it to be higher, but whatever.

So, is this an indication that those A2s are having some affect?

There's an old rule in looking at stock prices. They will go up and down, but what you're looking for are higher highs and higher lows.

That was hds last chance, and honestly best chance all year to win a week.
They blew it, and now the bloodbath begins.
