The Thing - My 2nd time watching this film and first time on blu. This is one of the better older films picture wise that I have seen on blu. Looked very good like it was made this year. This is a highly regarded sci-fi/horror film and although I dont rank it as high as most, I still like the film very much! The special effects stand the test of time and hold its own even in high definition where most older films get exposed due to the age of the effects and technology. The atmosphere was great just as most of Carpenter's older horror films. I would definitely recommend this film to all sci-fi and horror fans. Job well done and the film has aged beautifully. Got Em!!

Just watched Trick 'r Treat

Just as good as I was hoping for, which is a good thing. A pretty cool Halloween story and some interesting characters to make it all the more fun. This will be a movie I watch every year now

Trick 'r Treat - 2nd viewing of the film as the first viewing was last October. This is a great movie to watch during the Halloween season. One of the better anthology films but with all the stories tied together with some sort of connection. My favorite story is either the
[Show spoiler]girl werewolfs or the school bus.
This movie is a fun ride and overall enjoyable experience. I have to retract an earlier statement a few days ago when I said I liked Trick 'r Treat better than The Thing. After watching both again for a 2nd time today I actually prefer The Thing over Trick 'r Treat but I like both. Got Em!!

House of 1000 Corpses - Ummm Zombie and his films sometimes are hard to figure out. Still trying to figure out if I like it or not. I think it was a pretty good movie but he sometimes goes over board with things and some things couldve been left out. Sheri Moon was annoying and she was one of my biggest complaints. All the weird shots of infomercial type stuff kinda went over board to. Other than that I thought it was a decent gory horror film. Bill Moseley was my fav character in the film. The film had some very cool moments but then Zombie would do sumthin weird and I would be like WTF!! All in all I enjoyed it but not sure if I would watch it again.

After not watching any films over the last couple of days it feels good to knock out 3 horror films today to help me get back in gear a lil bit. One day left though. Got Em!!

I purchased this as a blind buy and I have to say the movie surpassed my expectations. Joe Spinell was amazing in his role and Tom Savini's gore effects were awesome as always. The movie had moments of great suspense and was genuinely creepy. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't seen it.

10/02 Paranormal Activity
10/06 Frozen
10/08 Dracula (1931)

10/30 The Evil Dead - Wow, the only thing I can think to say about this movie is, man that was some f***ed up s***!

10/1 - Halloween TV Version (1978)
10/1 - Halloween II (1981)
10/1 - Halloween III (1982) 1/2
10/2 - Rob Zombie's Halloween
10/4 - Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers
10/5 - The Descent - Best horror movie in the last 10 years.
10/6 - The Descent Part 2 - Changed my rating from 1 1/2
10/7 - Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers
10/8 - The Exorcist - Still the scariest and most disturbing horror movie ever imo. A masterpiece.
10/9 - Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers 1/2 One of, if not the darkest entries in the original series. Awesome acting and a completely evil Michael makes this one of my favorites of the series.
10/10 - Rob Zombie's Halloween II (Theatrical Cut) 1/2 - Watched the theatrical cut DVD last night which is kind of hard to find in brick/mortar stores. There are a lot of alternate scenes and a completely different ending which I like a lot better because A. Michael doesn’t speak and B. They use music from the original Halloween instead of “Love Hurts” at the end. I think the movie as a whole flows a lot better and I really tried NOT to like it given so many hate it, but I ended up loving it more.
10/11 - Night of the Creeps - I haven't seen this movie in over 20 years and boy has it aged. Imo Tom Atkins saved this movie and there are some fun moments during the climax, but there are a lot of cringe worthy moments as well.
10/12 - Sleepaway Camp 1/2 - Low budget slasher movie with really bad acting and a lot of cheese. Kind of predictable too with a huge WTF moment at the end.
10/12 - Sleepaway Camp 2 - Much better sequel that takes a different approach by showing the killer the whole time. A lot of really funny scenes too.
10/13 - Frozen 1/2 - Just when you thought it was safe to...go skiing. I liked this movie...especially the wolves. I thought they were badass.
10/13 - Sleepaway 3 - Angela is at it again. 2 was much better. After watching these, I realized that 2 and 3 are different animals than 1 and 4 (Return to Sleepaway Camp).
10/13 - Return to Sleepaway Camp 1/2 skull - Talk about a completely unwatchable movie. The guy that we're supposed to feel sorry for is probably the most unlikeable person in the whole movie. The ending was kind of fun though.
10/14 - The Omen (1976) 1/2 - My first time seeing the original. A little slow but interesting.
10/14 - Orphan - First time seeing this one as well. I have to give it 5 stars. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. A lot of really creepy moments. This might give The Descent a run for it's money.
10/15 - Pet Sematary - An old favorite. It has aged quite well too.
10/16 - Damien: Omen 2 - I probably shouldn't rate this since I couldn't finish it. I just completely lost interest in this movie. Extremely boring, which ties into my next movie...
10/17 - The Exorcist II: The Heretic - Linda Blair is nice to look at, but the movie god awful. I don't know if it's just me, but these 70s era religion inspired horror sequels just didn't cut it.
10/17 - Predators - I know this might not really be considered horror, but there is some good kills. This was a really fun ride and I like how they mentioned the first film. Highly recommended.
10/24 - Planet Terror - Do not watch this with a woman that doesn't like "gross" horror movies. That's what ruined it for me the first time. This time around, I actually had a great time with it. A lot of funny parts and buckets of blood and bbq sauce! Great Carpenter-esque score too.
10/25 - Friday the 13th (2009) - This is my 3rd or 4th time watching this remake, and I liked it a lot better this time around. It seems to take itself more seriously than some of the other entries and Jason just flat out rocks in it. I hope they make a sequel eventually. It really makes me curious as to what Platinum Dunes could've done with the Halloween franchise.
10/25 - Halloween: H20 1/2 - I know this is a more popular entry and it did save the franchise, but it just doesn't click with me. There are some nice moments in it like the "face to face" scene, but it all seems too "over-produced" and I don't really like that in a Halloween film. Also, I don't find a 5'3" Michael threatening at all.
10/26 - The Shining - My favorite Kubrick film...a classic. The direction, the score are all perfectly done.
10/27 - Black Christmas (1974) - Considered the actual first slasher movie. I discovered it a few years ago while watching the Halloween 25 years of Terror doc. It's been a favorite ever since. Some pretty solid acting too by Margot Kidder and Olivia Hussey. Some creepy obsene phone calls too.
10/27 - Evil Dead II - I've never been a die-hard fan of these movies like alot of you guys are, but I really like part 2. It's got just the right mix of horror and comedy.
10/28 - Antichrist - It is really hard to rate this movie. It definitely causes a reaction, and it contains one of the most disturbing images I've even seen on screen.
10/28 - From Dusk Till Dawn - Really fun vampire movie.
10/29 - The Strangers 1/2 - This movie has "suspense" written all over it. I've never been more afraid of a door.
10/30 - The Crow - Perfect movie for Devil's Night. My 2nd all time favorite movie.

30 Days of Night BD
Liked that the vampires were so violent in this. Made it a little different than most other vampire movies.

30 Days of Night: Dark Days BD
Not as good as the first, in fact one star is just because Kiele Sanchez is in it.

Videodrome (1983) - 1/2

Okay that was a strange one. I still don't know if I understand it all or not but I think that's the point,
[Show spoiler]you don't know what is real and what is a hallucination
. The concept of this was really cool and very original, political, more sexual than I expected, and some excellent effects (
[Show spoiler]when Max kills Berry
). Only complaint was the choice of sound effects for the background music, I know the electronic sound goes well with the story but I didn't find it helped with any suspense. It was funny seeing all the old high tech gear too.

Was a wild ride!

Halloween: The Inside Story

A 2 hour documentary on the bio channel, has all the inside information on the 1978 classic. Great to see the cast talk about what they did with around 300k in budget.

Not sure if this is on a release or not, but it should be.

EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS

had to pick something that the kids could also watch last night so I dusted off this dvd and put it on--

I remember having a blast the first time I watched it and thankfully it didn't lose anything the 2nd time-- lots of laughs, great fun throughout, highly entertaining-- this needs to get a blu-ray release!!

[QUOTE=CZAR;3943565]House of 1000 Corpses - Ummm Zombie and his films sometimes are hard to figure out.

Film Rating -

glad to see you got around to seeing this one Czar-- this is probably the only Rob Zombie movie I enjoyed (I give it the same rating as you though my 3 star rating means a solid good movie and your is "pretty good" if I remember correctly). I enjoyed how eccentric and bizarre the flick was-- Zombie was focusing more on that angle than being crude and offensive which are now his trademarks...
