So MS wants to win through greed and corruption, while their fans are sacrificing themselves to support this ideal? Just to prove what cause?

That they are the winner?

Most of us here on this board could care less about winning, we only care about our movie in hi-def. Blu-ray is the winning and the superior format, that's why we're on its side.

Sadly, MS, HD-duds and all their followers are putting us through such unnecessary war.

Which is why I must help end it.

This weekend I plan on purchasing not only all of Warner's movie on blu, but I will purchase just about every other blu movie release to date.

Thanks to this stupid war, i'm gonna be broke as hell. LoL

I'm doing this because i'm a big movie fan, and also because I want to end this war asap.

Warner to Blu-Ray wouldn't be immediate the nail in the coffin.

However, it might take the format war to a convincing level where Lucas brings out Star Wars, Jackson and New Line finally bring out LotR, and then Warner brings out the big gun.

yeah, you know what I'm talking about:

The Goonies.

What did Sony do to them? Sony just jump into the gaming world with PS1, and whoop ass. So then Microsoft felt like jumping into the gaming world as well, by releasing X-box, which not only didn't do so well, but also got their ass whoop by PS2. So now it's personal huh? MS/360 agains't Sony as a whole?

What is MS gonna do next? Create their own movie studio in Hollywood call, Micro-Film? Or Micro-Media?
Trying to compete with Sony Pictures.

So if this whole movie download service deal is a flop, what next for them? Jump into hi-def disc with X-Ray? A cheap rip-off of Blu-ray?

MS, please stick to perfecting software, leave the gaming world and movie world alone. PLEASE!
MS doesn't have the beef with Sony, they have it with Apple (MPEG-4/H.264/AVC --- *ahem* Disney).

There would not be this many posts to this thread if it was simple speculation as we have seen in the past. The article goes beyond being ambiguous and over the last couple months, there have been pleny of "interesting" statements coming right from the horses mouths. Bottom Line: Warner goes blu exclusive in 08 and Universal will be at least duel format in the laterhalf of 08. There is smoke and fire...

The bottom line is that Warner going blu is the most important thing that could happen period and should be the main focus of the BDA no matter what it takes.
If Warner comes, Weinstein comes and Universal will have to go neutral before long or they may as well just burn cash.
Warner has major releases this year that will have a huge impact and I guarantee that if Warner comes aboard within the next three months you will see Toshiba release its first blu ray player by Christmas '08

Eh. I'd say it's more Microsoft protecting their Windows monopoly. Look what happened to Sun & Netscape, they both had visions of dummy computers with remote applications. Remember Microsoft funding SCO to continue their frivolous lawsuits against linux? Just think, we've got here a heck of a multimedia system with the PS3, just toss on firefox and openoffice in the Playstation 4, and you've just replaced Windows for a large percentage of people.

Microsoft has multiple irons in this fire.
A) Codec interests
B) Stake in downloadable HDM
C) If Blu wins PS3 gets another sales boost even if minor

Two facts:

1) if Warner joins Blu, game is over. No doubt. (and that's the best thing from a technological point of view).
2) if Warner keeps neutral (actual scenario) we'll have two formats forever, with all the problems that this implies.

Simply there is no chance for WB to come with HD-DuDs esclusively.

The question is: when and if Warner will take a decision?

#2 is a very bad scenario :-( I hope they pick a side whatever it may be.

Being in Europe(Ireland), it seems hard to have any real affect, as we are already mostly Blu.

Well I've done my little bit to help today, I hope this will add to the US figures. Ordered 300 and Troy from Amazon.com on the bogo.

Thats about 8 Blu-Rays now for my PS3 (Still in the box ) and no HD TV (Looking at the new KURO) - Still waiting to move into my new house so hopefully everything will come together in January

Only problem is the delivery might not be until Jan next year and it might be all over by then, hopefully.

I completely agree with you. That is my all time favorite movie. If Warner went HD-DVD, I'd have to buy a player and go purple.

That's how large the stakes are. I think a lot of people would be forced to go purple if Warner dumped BD altogether and left us with such a splintered market, or "stalemate" to use Mr. Stringer's term.

Connect the dots people. The actions by warner the past few months have been laying the path towards blu-ray exclusive.

Ok. If Warner goes Blu what will the Duders say then? Will they still deny BD has won or start spouting off that HD DVD players make great upconverters that rival BD Players in PQ? I wouldn't put anything past them at this point.

That's what it comes down to, only us early adopters will continue with both formats, the regular guy on the street will continue with DVD, which isn't great for studios seeing as profit margins are being slashed.

It will then be another five, possibly ten years, before the studios get their next DVD like cash boost, with Micorsoft controlled HD downloads.

Are the studios really so short sighted?

Some may point to Paramount, but they only signed up for 18 months, by the time the hi def market hits top gear, they'll be free to release on Blu-ray.

Warner going HD-DVD exclusive now, just as the Blu-ray market is ready to take off, worldwide, would effectively kill both formats,
