Okay, got up nice and early this morning, even booked the day off work so I could fetch AVATAR: SPECIAL EDITION.

Anyway, got home, had a little scan through discs 2 + 3 on my PS3 Blu-ray, my only Blu-ray.

And then... I put disc 1 in ready to see James Cameron's vision of Future Earth, sat back, feet up... NOTHING.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!

I've tried rebooting my PS3, system updates... etc. You name it, I've done it!

Why on Earth is this happening?

Am I doing something wrong???

Thanks in advance, folks.

Does the PS3 work with any other blu-ray disc that you might have?

If not, then the laser inside it might have burnt out somehow. If your other blu-ray discs work, then you might have bought a damaged copy of Avatar.

Other discs work, yes. I'll return it to HMV tomorrow.

I don't think i will be using my mobile phone and more importantly predictive text to write important documents.

On another note, I wonder just how many copies Play have had returned, and what they'll end up doing with them all. Leave it on sale til they're all gone to people who don't mind the bashes, I guess.
I wonder if whoever their manager is is concerned with this.

I mean it's obvious that if people are paying 90 quid for a tin can they wouldn't want it to be bashed in (exaggeration) or even have small scratches.

Even if their packaging is normally bad they could at least do it for people paying an obscene amount for, ironically, the packaging.

Last night I popped disc 1 in the PS3 to have a quick sample... loaded up fine and watched a bit. Later when it came to actually watching the film, it would forever load on that small 20th Century Fox logo, never moving past that.... I tried several times and would do the same thing over and over. Then I logged into my PS3 account and tried again... worked fine and quick after that! I recommend trying that if people are having trouble playing using the PS3.

I'm giving in and selling my other copy. I'd like to see the deleted scenes and extended cut. Sorry but the studios know how to play and there are people like me who are dumb enough to give into it.

If you are a big fan of Avatar, I would say that its worth it. I would sell the barebones release and put the proceedings toward's this . But personally, I will be sticking with my barebones steelbook .

Watched the main "making of" documentary a little earlier... I cannot believe the amount of effort that went into the film! So much done before they even started shooting. For example, they sent a lot of the main cast out to some jungle to "practice" haha!

Watching the deleted scenes was very interesting too. Almost like seeing an alternative version of the movie.
