I don't know, Diesel. I think it looks pretty terrible in the images. I would like the image with the logo under his shirt if it didn't look exactly like Iron Man. The VFX look bad right now. I am betting they will look better since they have many many months. There are some good elements to it, but the mask, the boots, and his skin all look bad (orange?). I am hoping for a much better trailer closer to release.

But I feel the movie will just be "ok"... but Ryan makes up for it. A great talent IMO.
He is a good looking man.
I heard today that he had rippling abs before The Situation.

I meant how the suit comes out not the final shot of it

Besides the suit in this part, just about everything else looks good already to me

I suppose we just have differing opinions. Like I said, I am betting the VFX will be up to my standards by the time it is released, and some minor things might be tweaked (people have complained about the collar). I definitely like the look of Sinestro. He looks pretty great.

The suit looks like they completed the action figure design - then copied that.

Also, why does he become skinnier?

Also, personally, I find the alien world visuals to look very CGI (just as I did with the Thor shots). Hope they work on those.

What a shocker.......Ryan Reynolds acting like himself.......once again. Sorry all you fans, but his talent rivals Sam Worthlessington in all action/superhero flicks Reynolds has been in so far.

Still looks like a fun flick though. Will go see it.

When we get the second trailer around February/March (maybe as late as April) I think we'll have a much better feel for what the final effects will look like.

Just remember, the first trailer for Avatar had effects that didn't look all that amazing and we all know how that turned out. More recently, Iron Man 2's first trailer (and I think it was the case for the original as well) didn't have the best effects, but they turned out to look very good in the finished film. There's time

I'm sure they'll gauge the feedback and make what adjustments they think are necessary....they would be smart to do so at least. They NEED this movie to succeed, they need a hit outside of Batman/Superman, especially since Batman wraps up in 2012 for a while and Superman's future is iffy at best after the 2012 film.

I am betting your are very correct on that. They'll take in the feedback and make some tweaks or changes. The rest is just working on the VFX.

I agree on the necessity of making this a hit. They seem to be banking on it with the announced sequels. If this is a major hit, it is almost a guarantee that we will get other hero films. If it flops, I bet we won't get that Flash movie, or any other hero movie outside of Batman in a few years when it is rebooted.

Yeah, that's what I said earlier in the thread - that I'll still reserve judgement til March when we get a fuller trailer with more finished effects. I know these teasers trailers are usually missing all sorts of elements to include finished effects, color timing, sound, etc.

I'm hoping/wishing the best for this movie. Not impressed so far, but I'm rooting for them to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

They're trying to make him to be more of a Tony Stark type guy, hoping to duplicate Iron Man's success, too bad this movie looks like absolute crap, love those late 90's CGI effects too!

I'm not really that interested in a Flash movie. I'd watch it if it looks good but I wouldn't be upset if it didn't get made....but I want this to be good so I can get two more

I've come to the conclusion that Hal Jordan's suit is unfinished cgi. Abin Sur's looks great as well as Sinestro and Tomar Re. I looked at the neck lining and there is alot of detail there on the other GL's, but Hal Jordan's looks half done and the colors of his whole suit are just not on par with the others. His mask had no detail and looked like the rough concept design of a novice graphic artist. No way will the final product look like that.

I'll say it again- studios are making the mistake of oversaturating the movie market by running with every superhero imaginable based on the success of a few major franchises- namely Spiderman, Ironman, X-men, and the Batman reboot.

I know who Green Lantern (mostly through Superfriends), Captain America and Thor are, but do you seriously think the mainstream public is going to tolerate the constant bombardment?

I am only willing to really see all the individual pieces as a way to bridge me to the Avengers movie, but by themselves, I would need to hear super word of mouth or a tremendous rating on the Tomatometer to drive me to any of these individually.

I believe now-a-days the mainstream public consists of kids, teens, geeks, nerds and middle aged men (like myself) - all of which always dreamed of seeing all of these superheros in a movie!

I understand what you're saying - however, Superheroes/Comics are the new action movie. Having a cop fight terrorists in a high rise, or having some muscle man throw bad guys around, just doesn't cut it these days - not up against the spectacle of cosmic superheroes battling it out to save the universe.

Sure, there will be one here or there - but even those border on comic book (The A-Team).

As for GL - it probably should have been scheduled for next 2011 holiday time frame - I think it's going to get smothered in all the big summer movies and simply does not have the momentum going for it that CA and Thor have from the previous Iron Man films and upcoming Avengers movie.

If GL fails hard - expect studios to pull hard on the reigns of the lot of comic book properties in pre-production. If it manages to be a moderate success - expect to see even more.

That makes me wonder why they released the trailer now. I don't know what kind of difference it would make if they had waited a month. They could have directed the VFX teams to work on those scenes a little more. Putting out work that is so far from finished would seem to have a stronger negative effect than waiting another month to release it.

Then again, maybe most people would be fine with it. This board is not a great representation of the entire public/audience's opinions.

not digging the trailer. Feels like Fantastic Four with Men in Black. I mean the action and the comedic feel.

Plus the studios know its the rage right now. So they're going to make any kind of superhero movie out there. Just look at the new tv shows areout and are coming out. The studios list consist if

1.Superhero
2.Remake/Reboot
3.non human (Vampires and Aliens)

maybe not in that order but that's what I've heard from a couple of hollywood producers when they were here last month. To them it's a sad time right now. Studios are all about the money. They're afraid of original stuff because it might not be sucessful. So if people want it to stop don't go see them. No Captain America, Thor, Superman, Batman or The Avengers

Probably to get it out ahead of the Thor and CA trailers.

They also don't have to pay ridiculous salaries for actors.. since the character is the main star. And pretty much any actor will do. I think Marvel is paying the star of Thor only $500,000 I think... So they are in the drivers seat when it comes to negotiations, and if you not willing to play ball they will replace your ass fast.
