Me too, but since this title was originally announced for January 08, 2008, I wouldn't be surprised if the title was already encoded.

I agree with your band-aid analogy. If Warner Bros. goes Blu-ray exclusive, the war is over... and if I was HD DVD exclusive, I would not be interested in buying titles that I'd have to double dip on later... and if I was an uninformed HD DVD consumer, I'd be ticked that Warner chose to release these titles knowing that there will be people out there that won't know of Warner Bros. exclusivity announcement.

Yeah I'm talking strickly New Releases. They already have announced Feb titles and by the end of Dec/begining of Jan they have to start announcing March titles. I just want to make sure if they are going exclusive then titles like I Am Legend shouldn't be released just because they announced it a week before they went exclusive to Blu-ray.

Not likely, but I think if Warner went HD DVD only (also not likely), that could lead to the planets aligning just right for other things to occur.

This is all specualtion, but I have to wonder why Disney voted in the last HD DVD vote. I would not want Warner to spur other studios in to second guessing their choice to be exclusive.

Let's just get this over with so I can start buying more movies.
I've meet with my Disney sales rep twice over the past couple months.

If there is one stuido you don't have to worry about switching sides it's Disney. They are more Blu than Sony. I'm not joking......you would think they invented Blu-ray with the way they are pushing the format. Even Sony doesn't push Blu-ray to me as much as Disney does.

The poll was deleted. Not sure why, most of the posts on the big plasmas and new display technologies were inspiring.

A digital projectionist noted at one point that the digital cinema version of HP ootp was among the smallest he's seen of the big blockbusters. This basically means HP will be easy to encode regardless of codecs. Otoh, it could be a very soft title lacking detail, so that's something to look into as well.

Are you serious? How many times have we heard "this time it's different" with this subject matter? I'm tired of meaningless threads that contribute NO REAL INFORMATION, but more speculation. It only serves to contribute fodder to have the other side laugh at us.

What do you think is so different about this thread and posts in the Insider's Thread, that makes this ANY DIFFERENT?

There were a few more things other than the 50GB storage of BD that has Disney firmly in the BD camp. These are also things which HD DVD can never deliver:

* 1.5x Bandwidth
* Region Coding
* BD+ Security

While a *few* people outside of Paramount knew about the Parmount/Toshiba deal, that was a curve ball that really caught the industry off-guard.

Let's not sit too pretty on this BD/WB rumor. Anything can happen. And things can change dramatically in just a few days time. Get everyone you know to buy Potter on BD to help keep the BD numbers strong through this Christmas season.

BD+ is the one that put their decision over the top...

the rest were obvious choices, but the security of their movies was icing on the cake...

people that want to hack into a BD can...but they won't have much of a social life because of the dedication that it takes to hack into a single movie..

You know I didn't have any intention of buying those Potter discs right now and was just going to go with the Zeppelin disc. I think I might just say "screw it" and buy them all individually tomorrow.

I'm not "sitting pretty" until there is confirmation made..

however, I will say that I like our chances based on PM's attitude towards the news/rumor alone...

PM was mum on the other rumors...this time he at least confirmed there was a rumor and seemed to waste no time expressing that..

Yea. It's funny how the exact reason Disney, New Line, and friends support Blu is the exact opposite reason M$ and Uni support DuD.

I have no interest in Potter, but I really wanted the Zeppelin release....

I may just purchase something else just to say "I'm here" for this week because it is such an important week to begin with...

they are PROBABLY being paid handsomely by MS...

why else would you dangle your movies out there in high def?

I mean, the majority of their movies are half assed in regards to compression, so I guess they figure to let people get the watered down HD versions until they use BD+

Is this site credible at all? I never heard of them before. Did they just read the business week article and write the same thing? Or are they truly insiders?
