Totally agreed! I might end up getting just the regular edition unless there IS the briefcase thingy at the store when I am there.

I was hoping to find more info on the Canadian website, but Canada has an exclusive of their own:

Should be the same for Best Buy here:

The limited set, while including all the things you mentioned that would not come with the regular release, has 3 discs not just the Blu. The 2nd disc includes the most extra features among the three discs.

Both the regular retail BD and the BD packaged with the Limited Edition Briefcase set comes with three discs - 2 Blu-ray Discs (with the movie and all special features) and 1 DVD copy of the movie (no features on this disc). The Briefcase includes all the special features the regular BD has and the only exclusives are the totem, Cobol Job prequel comic, PASIV dream machine instruction manual, and some artwork cards, along with the Briefcase external packaging (obviously).

This isn't anywhere near as confusing as the Watchmen stuff though, as far as I'm concerned. That stuff really hurt my head.

Thanks for the clarification. As long as there are not "physical" extras, I am good with the standard edition. Same number of disks with the same contents "digitally".

My OCD isn't as finicky: as long as the items I want are in mint condition, I'm okay. The briefcase was my first order through the WBShop, so I don't know what to expect in terms of packaging; I'm also concerned that their choice of shipper may be UPS. If the briefcase arrives undamaged (knock on wood), I'll keep that sealed, and I'll pick up the Best Buy exclusive for viewing.

Not impressed at all with the video quality. Plus, the audio bitrate only delivers 3689 kbps while other films reach over 6000?

I hope we get see the perfect treatment for the perfect movie.

Lossless audio bitrate doesn't matter. The bitrate is dependent on the complexity of the source material and the efficiency of the encoder, it does not affect quality.

It sounds like BB might be doing one of those "exclusives" where they just throw in an existing item for free. They gave out the script books for War of the Worlds and Brokeback Mountain, too. The Inception script book is readily available to buy today.

The word "video" requires motion. A still is not video.

What do you see that's wrong with the picture quality though? That grain looks a little intrusive in a still, but I'm sure it'll look awesome in motion. And the detail in textures looks great. Look at the wrinkles in Leo's face in the close ups. Nice.

Saying this tells us that you don't understand how lossless audio works.

A losslessly compressed audio file can be any bitrate. It doesn't matter. As long as it's losslessly compressed, it's the BEST it can be. Low bitrate just means that the data can be compressed very efficiently.

My order is now 'backordered' and when I called this morning the rep said they have no idea when it will be shipped. I'm thinking of just canceling my order and getting a copy from BB.

Last night, I sold my Inception Briefcase for $222.50 on eBay. In the closing minutes, it was at $125, then all of a sudden it jumped to $222.50. Somebody must've wanted it that badly.

That's odd. Mine still shows 'In Process' simply because it hasn't released yet. 'Backorder' may mean you were one of those that ordered toward the end when thet may have oversold. When did you place your order? If it was on that Friday when we first found out about the U.S. limited edition set, then your order should be fine.

I sent WB Shop an email because my confirmation said that it would ship by 11/15 and hadn't shipped yet (I didn't really expect it to ship early, I just wanted clarification). The reply I got was, "Unfortunately, the item you have ordered, Inception is currently on backorder due to overwhelming demand."

My order status still says "In Process" and I placed my order on that Thursday (11/11) minutes after getting the email from WB Shop.

Do you remember what day you ordered it? My status still shows 'In Process'. They haven't refunded your order yet, did they?

If yours is 'In Process', then your order will ship near the release date. I hate it when companies use automated replies because you can never get a direct answer. WB is just hiding from angry customers.
